KTM 200 or Husqvarna TE250

I have found a clean 2001 KTM 200 for $4000 OTD. I have my eye on the new Husq TE250. The problem is the dealers don't know when the bikes will be shipped. I have based my interest on the TE250 on just one Ausie article. (Low-end power, light weight and electric start sound great) Is the bird in the hand worth two in the ****? The dealer wants me to put down a deposit on the TE250.

Sounds like the same hassle I went through on the Gas Gas thumper. Don't waste your time, the bike is a vision. Buy the KTM. Two years after the Gas Gas rumors started, Honda produced the CRF450, rumors on it were only 6 months behind. The Husky will be grand, buy the KTM, enjoy it, then buy a TE 250 in a couple of years, if they exist.:uh:

I'd say if you have a bike now, ride it and wait for the Husky. If you have no bike now, get the orange thing. :p

Both bikes can kick but in the woods. The question is can you wait until 2003 for the Husky. 2002s are pretty much gone by now. They arrive (to those with deposits) starting next month. May put my money down on a 2003 450

Hey cq
my dealer in SF says that his husky shipment is coming within a month's time. I'll bet that you can find one. I read the same article you did, and I agree the Husky sounds very interesting.

end of april is still the word around here. The same prototype bikes that were tested by the australian mags - te250 and te450 - are supposedly being toured around some of the husky dealers, and will be in my town in a week or 2. Here's hoping for a test ride :).
