Holy cow! I finaly set my sag better and raised my forks to the second line. What a difference!! You folks that haven't done this yet get on it. I was sceptical that raising the seat height would be a good thing but it realy feels better.
I do have a few questions though. I think I need a heavier shock spring I weigh about 220 w/gear and I have the stock spring PDS-2. I have the spring tightened up to where it has almost no free sag but I still have to much race sag. Should I get the KTM spring or are there better aftermarket springs? Any recomendations appreciated.
Also when bleeding the air from the top of the forks is it kosher to do it off the stand or should I have the bike on a stand with no weight on the forks?
Thanks folks

Put the bike on a stand and keep the front wheel up off the ground and you'll be fine. Other than that I can't answer questions...

Thanks Adrenaline
I was toying with the idea that a guy could soften the forks a tiny bit by leaving it off the stand. I'm not very good at adjusting suspension, OK I suck at adjusting suspension, but I had such good results with raising the race sag that I thought maybe a little soft on the front end might be a bonus also a touch lower.

When I got my new '01 300exc I felt that it didn't turn as well as my '99. I rode it a few times thinking it was the new USD forks. I decided to check my sag and couldn't believe how far it was off. Actually I accused my wife of not being able to read a tape measure when she told me there was over 5 inches of sag. [Note: don't do this, you need your lady's support when it comes to the dirt biking habit.] Anyway, the spring adjustment made my new 300 handle as good as my '99, so like its been said, check your sag carefully on the orange scoots.

Yes Ziggy, you need a stronger spring. A PDS3, I'd guess. I weigh 200 in street clothes and use the PDS3 on my 400EXC. The bike is about 15lbs heavier, though. It works great for me and my sag numbers are right on.
