Does anyone have any hands or eyes on info on the 250 4-stroke. I've heard it's a sleeved down 400 in a 400/520 frame or it's a 125 frame and new motor. KTM world has a pic but no info. under new bikes.
"Sleeved down" to me means it is the same cylinder as the 400, just with a smaller bore. If you you actually look at the bike, the cylinder on the 250 is different than its bigger brothers, and certainly not just sleeved down.
Guess what I saw today, thats right 2 brand new 250 exc 4 strokes, sitting on the dealers floor, he was shocked to see them too, there will not be to many shipped here only about 5 total so far and they are all in So. Cal, dont know yet how they run, but just seeing that "e" button would steer me awy from the WR.
I saw one at a dealer in Dallas yesterday. It is a nice looking bike. Price quoted to me was $6548, a lot of money for a 250 4-stroke. Slower than a YZ250F by how much? It ought to be a killer woods bike. The KTM has E-start which means you could pass the 250F when it stalls and takes 10 minutes to start :p
Saw one here in Idaho the other day which shocked the heck out of me. The fact that it is a sleeved down 400/520 kinda bothers me. Less power, but same out of weight and size. Maybe if it was its own motor and maybe the same size as a 200, but for now I think I'd have to pass.
The cylinder and head are noticably smaller than the 400/520. My dealer here in MARYLAND has had 2 for 3days now. I'm interested to see how long they sit on the floor.
