I'm 230 lbs. and 5'11'' and I am riding a Suzuki DR-Z 250 and 400E and are doing pretty good on them. I am wondering whether I should get a KTM EXC or not. I don't know if i want 2 or 4 stroke though. Which is gonna be good for me? Thanks.

Sorry I forgot to add that I'm still sort of a beginner and still learning a lot.

danscroobie -

you have two great begginer bikes now. why not stick with them until you're no longer "sort of a begginer"?

I'm a beginner in the sense that I haven't ridden anything like an mx bike. Plus I need a new bike.

I'm a big fan of high power:weight ratios. The 300exc is your best bet. Light weight with lots of power!!! The 4 strokes always weigh more. Of course, if reliability is a big concern, you have to change piston and rings on a 2-stroke every 2-4 years depending on how much and how hard you ride. But it's easy to do. Have fun shopping!!!

Thanks Tom! My neighbor happens to own a EXC 300 and he said he'd let me try it out.

You're welcome Dan!!! Oh yeah!! The bigger 2-stroke engines don't require piston and rings as often either. That's why I love my KX500!!! It doesn't work very hard at all!!!
