KTM's need more maintenance than CR's or RM's?

I know its kind of a broad question...

but I've been looking at 01 and 02 RM 250's and CR 250's...looking to bye a used "green sticker" bike here in California...so I been checking out craigslist often.

And I've seen a few KTM's pop up, one being a 300exc priced a bit more than most of the used RM's and CR's....... just curious are parts for KTM's (piston, rings, plastic) that much more expensive than the japanese bikes. I've owned Suzuki's in the distant past, but never an European off road bike....though I do have an Aprilia sportbike currently, and those parts tend to be a bit more than the japanese bikes :(

KTM OEM parts, depending on the dealer, are usually a little more expensive. Aftermarket parts are the same price, like piston kits, clutches, etc. KTM's, expecially the EXC line, usually cost a little more than jap bikes, but then the Japs don't really have an equivelent model for off-road/woods use.
