If anyone saw my post on my stripped steering stem then you know I ordered one from Emig Racing. The OEM stem was $299 (discounted price) and ER had them for $70, in stock. :) I ordered it and had it on my door step in 3 days. The problem was that the one I got didn’t match the one I had. It turns out that some of the early production bikes use components from the previous year and since I bought ’01 RM250 in Sept of '00 guess what I had? They told me that they see all kinds of mismatched components on bikes and not just Suzuki.
A quick phone call to Emig Racing verified that I indeed had an early stem. I suspect that I would have had the same problem if I had ordered the OEM stem since they don’t ask the bikes serial numbers or anything. The girl at ER told me that she would have the correct part shipped out that day. It was already late in the day so they had to hustle to get it ready for UPS in time. They also included a prepaid UPS return label for me to return the wrong stem
I’d like to thank them for recognizing that I had a problem and making it as painless for me as they could. They took full responsibility and sent me the right part (using 2 day express) even before I returned the wrong stem to them.
Things like this will happen and I measure a mail order business or my local shop on how well that react when they do. Emig Racing has won my business the next time I need something that they offer.:cool:
