KX100 Top End

Im looking to do a top end on my KX who should i buy the piston from? :whoa:

there are pretty much 2 big brands for dirtbike pistons, and topends. 1.wiseco 2.vertex.
I'd go with wiseco, because they're forged pistons. A kit from wiseco would probably cost $110-$120.

It's not that hard at all. If you don't have a manual, then get one. You should have assistance the first time you do a top end though, just in case you get stumped on it.

they should have a kit. If not, you can order one from your local shop.

I've used Motosport several times, always a good experience. I agree with RM85rider, you should have a manual and a helper.

I did a top end job on my friends old kx100 back in '02. It is still running strong to this day. I opted for the wiseco kit aswell. Never had any engine failures using wiseco in small engines. It's a fairly straight foward process. If you ever need an online guide to do it i could help you.

Check part # 92043 it's the pin the KIPS valve actuates on and it's worth about $3. Not replacing it and not noticing it was worn to the point of breaking when I did the top end on my kids KX80 cost me another top end during break in.
