I would try going smaller on the slow jet. The KIPS do get alot of oil on them, I believe this is normal and not a problem. I switched from 32:1 to 42:1 and that made a really big difference in the amount of spooge coming out of the exhaust.

Have you cleaned your silencer? You might be blowing out the spooge from the prior problem.

How is your throttle response? Are you getting "4-stroking" at part throttle.

The pilot circuit and needle are tuned for best throttle response. If you go too lean you'll simply get a lean bog. The main should be tuned for best performance, however, a plug chop is in order to make sure you aren't running too lean.

Don't chase the spooge problem by changing your fuel/oil ratio. Spooge is a result of unburned premix, i.e. fuel AND oil. And remember, 42:1 is RICHER than 32:1.

If you have a clean silencer and air filter, you have good throttle response, and you are still getting a lot of smoke & oil, your problem might not be your jetting. It could be blow-by from the crank seal. What color is the smoke?

took the silencer off,the packing was gunged up pretty bad, then put a 340 main in same problems with that. KX02 could be right with a smaller pilot-because i play about in woods quite a bit,so you are hardly full on the gas. when i do wind it on it splutters a bit before kicking in.As for the ratio just been mixing at 40:1 in a measuring jug,i have a new bills pipe coming this week, but obviously i dont want to put it on if its going to get gunged up.the mechanic who put the 340 in also put the clip right at top of the needle which i thought at the time was a bit curious,i know i will get some proper advice on this site so thanks lads :thumb:

40:1 should be fine, having the needle at the extreme max lean position sounds a bit odd to me. You might be too lean in the mid range causing the sputter before the bike winds out. I would definitely go after the pilot circuit, you might have to put the needle back to the standard position, keep a close eye on your plug. Yes, 42:1 is richer than 32:1 when you are talking about the air to fuel ratio. I definitely do not think adding more oil makes the bike have a cleaner exhaust though. There's not many people running 20:1 anymore, or 10:1 for that matter. My bike had a very dirty exhuast when it was new. The cure was just to jet it down a little and switch from 32:1 to 42:1. A good synthetic oil can run 40 or 50 to 1 easily. If you do think it could be tranny fluid your KX has a window on the side of the case you can check the fluid level with. Good luck, let us know your progress. :thumb:

I have a 99' Kx125 and I have a similar problem. I put a fmf fatty and powercore shorty on it after i had my pro circuit on it with the 304 factory sound on it. I ran good with the pc on it but as soon as i put the fmf on it it had a horrible bog right off throttle. I moved the clip down two spots and it runs better. But it really feels like its running lean. I also live in jersey and i got a great mechanic but i havent been able to get it over there.

I got two mechanics. One is a friends of the family and the other is a good friend. The mechanic that does most of my work is a guy named Kevin Maco. I brought all of my bikes to him. He does good work and hes a great mechanic. The other mechanic is my friend Mike he has the sam bike as me and he really knows what he is doing. He also has an 03' kxf400 all worked out[ he races both quads and dirtbikes.] currently he is doing my friends motor. If you want to talk to them email me or send me a message and ill talk to them.

antsbrook, you're on the other side of the state from me, so my mechanic wont be much help. I'd suggest that before you go chasing the jetting, rule out all other possibilities.
