I have an 2001 Kawasaki 250 with an effect-pipe from DOMA. The bike is smooth and easy to ride, but I am not a pro, so i have more use for the low end power then the high end. It has an exploding power at high rpm but in the lower end, it sucks! ! !

I had an 1999 KX 250 last year, and the low end power on that bike was incredible. Nice smoooth low end all the way up to the top. I thought it maybe was because of the DOMA pipe, so i tried the orginal pipe on. No success, in fact, the DOMA worked better both in the low end and on top rpm.

Anyone has any tips? trix? reeds? anything else? carburator?

I am almost desperat, i dont want to buy a 1999 again ! :ugg:

mail me at bjarne@dirtysnow.com if you have got anything that could help me... [mrk: ANYTHING]:ugg:

How cold is in Norway right now? It might just be lean on the bottom end if it's still near zero degrees centigrade. Try screwing in the air screw to about 1/2 turn and if that does nothing, then go larger on the idle jet.

Halla!

We use snowmobiles in the winter, racing with our fine Finland made LYNX'!!? :)

But I must admit, I havent tried it in summer time because I got it in september last year, and then there is about 10 degrees celsius here in Norway. I think I`ll go for the V-Force after the easter! Then the snowx is going to get put away!

k2bjarne,
I can relate to your problem. Sometime ago I rode a buddy's '99 KX250 and loved it, had to have one to replace my '99 CR250. I bought a '01 KX 250. Great power and handling that’s way better than the CR, IMO. However, the power delivery was nothing like the '99 KX.
After my airbox separated from the boot (you may want to check yours) and major dirt ingestion :o , I sent the top-end to Eric for some work. Since the cylinder needed re-plating anyway I asked for the 265 kit with Mo Better porting. What a difference, low end power that makes gear selection far less critical and linear power from bottom to top with hardly any hit. Much like a 500, with less power. I must say that it makes this bike very easy to ride and with the addition of a fly wheel weight (9 oz.), a great trail machine.

Good Luck,
Scott
