Myself and one of my buddies have Fridays off. This Friday was special because we decided to make up for our riding dry spell by bolting for Reiter for a bit of woods therapy.
I have kid duty so the plan was to meet after I dropped them off at their school, hightail to Reiter, ride for four hours, and hightail back to school and pick them up.
It was one of those perfect days of riding. I usually have a bit of trouble putting together a good loop at Reiter, but Friday I got on the Local's rhythm and just strung one sneaky snake single track to another. Traction was as good as Reiter gets, weather was perfect, bike worked well and I was getting sore ears from grinning and war whooping!
I didn't even get lost like usual and we pulled up to the truck 45 seconds later than the plan. I got to school right on time - thoroughly enjoying the glares from the Sierra club weinie parked next to me in the lot. Ah, my trusty, mud covered steed....
Riding when most folks are working (including my lovely and talented wife) is a special feeling.
Yes, life is good...
