Hey all. I am riding an XR200, and I have recently noticed that a little bit of rust has decided to congregate on my chain. It's not a lot of rust, but I was wondering if this is normal or okay. Thanks!
Have you been lubing your chain. If not, especially after you wash it, then that is probably the cause of your rust.
Actually, what I do is wash the bike, spray WD-40 on the chain to stop rust and then later after the chain is dry, actually spray some lube on the chain.
Everybody has their own idea on this process so expect a bunch of different opinions. :)
Layton is correct. Right after you wash it, you need to spray some sort of water dispersant on the chain. You can use WD, or any good chain lube should do it. The Honda chain lube in the red can is excellent, I think it's called HP1.
