I see no reason to ride my bike up the ramp. Most of the time some stranger walks up and helps me at the races. Bunch of nice people out there.

Nope, I figure I give everyone else enough amusing material while I'm out riding! Besides anybody who can fall unloading (me) has no business whatsoever riding into the back of a truck bed. (ask VintageDirt) :flame:

BEEF, I thought you fell down starting your bike. Did crash unloading it too? :)

Well at least putting your body between the ground and the bike didnt allow it to get scratched. Now thats what I call diehard dedication.

Yep, I've done the 'bend the front of the truck-bed' trick also when I came up the ramp too hot. Easiest nose wheelie I ever did!

How did the rear window look when you were done? :)

Personally I have never done this. I always thought it was a no-brainer ;)

At least you guys are crashing while riding the bike up the ramp.  A buddy of mine decided he would walk his YZ426 up the ramp, with the bike idling in first gear.  He got the front tire up in the bed, but as the bike got higher, he was too short to reach the throttle.  He accidently blipped the throttle while stretching up over the bike.  The left foot peg made a mad dash for his left tail light!  Crunched the tail light and put one heck of a dent in his bed!

I didn't laugh...really, I didn't. ;)

I'm not sure, but have a strong hunch they let me out in front just because they like to see at least one decent wreck on any ride. Seems to be the slower I'm going, the funnier it is. :moon:

I tried to ride my trials bike onto my trailer without using a ramp or even letting the tailgate down once. It hurt............ Maybe I'll leave the stunts to James Bond or someone with a bit more skill.

Irish---I stopped short of the window and came back down perfectly centered in the bed of the truck on two wheels! I will still ride up my ramp, ( 1'x8' with side rails), but I'm a lot more careful about metering my speed up the ramp!

I have got a 5 and 1 record so far. On my 250, Im 5 for 5 . It was my kids 80 that threw me off on the momentum thing. I got the front tire on the tailgate and stoped. opps, no place for the feet! As I was going sideways I did a graceful ejection , a tuck and roll right back up to my feet. Turned 3 shades of red while I tell Jr, Dont try this at home Im a trained proffesional. :)

Reading these posts makes me have more appreciation than ever for my old scrappy 4'X8' utility trailer. :) :)
(sits about a foot off the ground, plus it tilts! dont even really NEED a ramp.)
Especially since my current ride is a 325lb.+ thumper.
Geez! that gives me the shivers just thinking about it.
Getting a XL500R into a '99 F250HD pickup bed............... :scream:

No Joke! Sometimes I just look around and marvel at the talent some of these riders have! I guess I must have been in the bathroom when God handed out talent! Oh well "Slow still puts a smile on my face" ;)

My ramp is an 8' long by 1' wide piece of 3/4" plywood, reinforced by some crate wood 2x3s. I have ridden a 500 pound Sportster up into my truck many times. When there's no one around to help, you just can't push a 500 lb. bike into a truck bed. But I've done it at the track too. You ought to see the jaws drop as I zoom up the ramp!

But now I have a nice little 4'x8' tilt bed trailer. Yeah, that's the ticket! :thumb:
