Looking for local places.

Nice to see a fellow rider from Paris. PM me and maybe we can get together. There are several of us that ride and its a good group of guys. Here are a couple of places I ride:

www.redriveratv.com 400 acres, lot of sand but a few decent trails. North of Bonham on the river.

http://www.texasmotorizedtrails.com/ (Click on the BMRA quick link at the top). Commonly called Barnwell Mountain. 1800 acres in Gilmer. The best place I've ever ridden. Every type of trail imaginable.

I've also ridden Muenster and a few others but I like Barnwell the most.

Obviously you have already found the NTSP. As the Secretary/Treasurer for the organization I need to inform you that nobody (Tarpaper, Twinnie, Stanbagger, etc, et al, none, nada) are authorized to accept membership dues other than me.

We have a great group of guys here in North Texas and get together quite often for group rides. They are posted here anywhere from months to mere hours before the rides are set to begin. Check them out, post up and join us on some.

I am busy servicing my bikes in preparation for my next DRN group ride in Reno :yeehaw: so I will be somewhat scarce on rides around here until after the ride the end of next month.

First off, welcome to the NTSP, a progressive dirt bike riding organization that was spawned from a personal vision of grandeur I had once, but for which I receive little or no recognition for.

All dues and fees are payable to me and anybody else claiming to be treasurer, collection daddy or head pimp is pure poppycock.

Girly powder puff riding can be done with the likes of Twinny or Tonie and the more macho manly sadistic style dirt bike racing can be done with the likes of Looney or myself. We also have a track queen named Thump running around here somewhere, but he recently lost his man privileges to somebody named Hot Pants so my be MIA for awhile :think:

I'll be the first to tell you that Taraker had his "vision of grandeur" one day while doing do-nuts in the parking lot at Shady Grove while yelling "yeeeehaaaaaw" at the top of his lungs (well, as loud as he could yell anyway since he had a piece of Charle's trash-can chicken clenched between his teeth).

Be forewarned - if you ever go riding with Taraker, he is a NASCAR fan, thus meaning that he has figured out how to turn left. However, if there are any fast-approaching right-handers coming up be sure to give him lots of room!

At the junkyard track in Dallas, off loop 12 (pretty convienient and not too bad for just practicin), the owner or whatever he is, cooks chicken on top of a old metal trash can. I've never actually had any, but I hear that it's not too bad.

As to Barnwell being better than Muenster.. I'm not too sure about that. I guess if you really knew the layout at Gilmer it would be good, but the last time I was out there the trails were in crappy condition, you couldn't tell where anything was supposed to go. At least at Muenster you can string some stuff together even when there's no marking. Muenster will always be my first choice for a day of riding. There's plenty of whatever you prefer out there, plus the dirt at Muenster usually comes off really easy, whereas the red dirt at Gilmer can be a real PITA to get off of bikes and out of gear. Some of my old gear still has some red stains from a TCCRA race out there last year, even with spray and wash.

I don't know which particular flavor you prefer, but there are also quite a few motocross tracks in the area. Some other people could probably let you know more info about those, seeing as I've never really ridden motocross (with the exception of a day at Shady Grove, a day at Nocona, and the WORCS race at Oak Hill).

When you're ready to try your hand at racing, TORO is a great organization to get going with. It's not too threatening, not real hot, the races aren't as long as others, and they're really very fun. The season is just winding down right now, but there is one more race next week in Denton. Might be fun to show up and watch if you're interested. TORO will get going again next year in late October, you might be about ready to see how you stack up in some off-road racing by then. Personally, I like to race, because it keeps me more interested in riding. I like the competition aspect of it, and I do like to beat Matt when I can. :)

I guess that's it, boy I wrote a lot. If you're ever wanting to go ride, post on here and there will usually be somebody who wants to join you. Also, just watch this forum to see when and where people are going riding. Don't forget to join us for the supercross this year!
