MXA Bash

Dear Rich Rohrich:

My comments about talking about "nothing" were meant to apply to threads such as this only. The rest (which is most) of DRN is great.

As for a magazine, with all due respect, I had something a little bit more grand in mind than your "MotoTech" publication. How about a real mainstream magazine to show us you can do better than Jody and the boys?

A response to your butt-hat comment is tempting, but way too easy. Not to mention tacky.

Keep up the good work in the tech areas, but your down-talking, put downs, and insults to MXA aren't quite as amusing as you'd like to think. And they do nothing for your credibility or professional image.

Pebble bed nuclear reactors don't give a rat's hind end about this thread or MXA so my "professional image and credibility" is quite safe thank you.

As for MotoTech I don't remember ever seeing your name on the subscription list so I'll assume you are staying consistent and once again talking without much in the way of facts. If by mainstream you mean a mag lacking in any useful content with more ad pages than editorial you are right, it would be tough to do it better than they do:silly: I'll pass either way, besides anyone with a SHRED of vision can see that a venue like DRN is the future.
BTW, when is your magazine coming out? I'd like to subscribe grand or otherwise :silly:

Humor is in the eye/mind of the beholder . I think I'll live a happy and prosperous life even without YOUR approval :)

I'm thrilled that you enjoy MXA, but if you are going to keep being an apologist for them every time one of these threads comes up I hope for your sake you don't bruise easily.

Not true these threads always make me laugh among with a lot of other members here:) We have not set our life goals out to destroy mxa as you might have it portrayed in your head.

As for the professional image, at least when we get advice from Rich we know it's not going to be because he just got a nice little pay out, and he won't always reccomend the shiniest part;)

Now so we can back to where we left off, My daily MXA quote :

.
HOW MUCH EDUCATION DOES IT TAKE TO BE AN MXA EDITOR?
It varies. Jody Weisel is your basic rocket scientist with post-graduate degrees in education, sociology and gerontology. :silly:

right :silly: this explains it all

In real life, if you used the front brake in a turn you'd crash

Speed and technique are not my friends but I always thought you should not use the front brake in a corner. Going into the corner you use both brakes to slow yourself down, however I thought it was generally accepted that once you were near the apex and leaned over grabbing the front brake was not a good thing. I have seen on a Gary Semics video where he suggests lightly dragging the brake to find the berm but I do not think that is how they meant it.

I think that's what they mean

Dragging the brake is suppossed to help hold you in the rut.

I remember when the YZ400F first came out DB and/or MXA (one in the same) kept trying to tell us that the "F" did not stand for four stroke. That it was a year designation (In '98 the model year was "K1", I believe). So why didn't the rest of the line have a big "F" on their decals too? (YZ250F,YZ125F,YZ80F,etc.). Gee, we've had "F" model bikes for 5 years now. Wish they'd hurry up and come out with a "G" model.

Also, They did a story about bikes from years past not too long ago. They talked about the good & bad of a 95 YZ125 but showed a 250 in the picture. I HATE IT WHEN THEY CAN'T EVEN SHOW THE CORRECT BIKE THAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!. They do it quite often and it just shows there incompetence!

Not only was that a pic of a 250 but it was a 95 and they were suppose to be talking about the bads of the 92 YZ!!!!

the stupidest thing i ever saw them print was when in 94, they compared the new ktm 440 to a 440 maico.i bit on that one,and that was it, no more mxa or dirt bike for me.

As for my "fantasy world", come on down here to GA, and lets see how you can do in a nice, sloppy Enduro or Hare Scramble. At least you won't be riding around in a little circle for an "exhausting" twenty minutes, then proclaiming how hard you rode.

Not that I'm defending Mr. Smith, but please, I rode a 3 hour harescramble this summer (my first ever) and won my class (3 hour 125...E class). I can tell you that there wasn't a big difference in how tired I was after the event as compared to MX. You woods guys crack me up.

PS - you should have mentioned busted knuckles instead. Ouch. The next purchase for the bike on Monday morning was handguards! ;)

Mr. Smith? I kind of like how that sounds. You're all right, PayDay2!
Seriously, I thought about replying to Spanky's challenge, but he had missed my point. I never said MX was any better or harder than any other form of "roosting."

I stick up for MXA a lot, but unfortunately I realize I'm in the minority here! :ugg: I think I'm gonna' start a thread about all the crazy things I've read in Dirt Rider just to divert the attention away from Jody, Timmy, and the rest of my boys ;)

In D-14 the HS classes are B = 3 hour 250, E = 3 hour 125, Z = open 2 hour, I think F = 3 hour 4 stroke, and so on. It isn't set up like A, B, and C classes. If you have a 125 and want to race for 3 hours, you race E, regardless of skill level. If you have a 250 and want to race for 2 hours, you race Z, regardless of skill level. 400 and want to race for 3 hours? F, reghardless of skill level. Classes are only broken up by bike size and ride time.

2 day trial? Sorry, sounds like a yawner to me. I only view the woods as a means to get back to the MX track in a HS. :)

Field of dreams? You decide....

Okay.
If not being able to get out of first gear on my 500 OR see a single bit of air is a field of dreams, then--NO. Might call it Spodeacre corner, or something.

I'll bet your daddy's pissed you tore up his 180 bushel corn.

Hey thorman,

Noticed you've got an electraglide. Kind of a slow bike for you, ain't it?:p

Now, if you're a REAL man, you'll join me at bikeweek in Daytona next year, & we'll go out for a spin on a Boss Hoss with a 502/502 chevy.

As far as Redbud is concerned, Tortelli's gonna ride for me. He's already said it's ok.:o

Can't let this die.:)
This, on the 250F--same page, same issue.:think

"...Because it fires on every other stroke, a four-stroke engine digs into the slickest dirt like a back hoe."

"..A four-stroke is at its best when the engine is running.":scream: (my favorite:))

How fast does your track "go"? "...Depending on the terminal velocity of your local track, the YZ250F will only need two gears."

"The biggest advantage that a two-stroke has over a four-stroke is at idle." (My second favorite)

Found it on the toilet: 1/02, MXA, pg. 111

Look, Jody, ya douchebag, if I can find 4 ignorant statements on one page in the course of one bowel movement & find them funny enough to sit down & publish on the internet--your rag has big problems. Understand? :silly:
