I was there. I raced and won the Big B class on my KX.
I liked the course and thought the creek sections added to the whole mental game of picking good lines. I didn't mind when they cut some of them out though either.
Did you see how fast Tabor was going, he is so smooth!
My son and I rode the team B class race on his 125 Husky. Ended up 5th. We just laughed because not only did I not get ANY time on the bike before the race to get use to how it felt, it had been 23 years since I even rode a 125. When my lap started I jumped on it just wondering if I could even ride it. Turns out that it didn't feel much different then my KTM 200 except that it has less low end. We ended up having a good time.
My stepson, Phil Converse, finished second overall behind Taber. That should have wrapped up the "AA" championship for him again this year in Iowa.:)
Good ride yz 200 guy! Yes, Taber is very fast.
I don't know why they put those creeks in each time. They know they are going to detieriate. It's not fair to the guys that are buried in them when they route everyone around them.
Still it was a good time with excellant weather.
i got 2nd little c wich was very supprissing due to my kick stand bolt
falling out and i had to stop in the woods and take out the other
with pliers you probly seen me i was there with shawn olsen and mike lair
shawn got 2 in a class mike filled his bike with sand in the quick sand creek
and did not want to chance blowing his engine and i agree tim taber was
riding really well and fast
ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO GUSSIES THIS SUNDAY
Funny story about this race, I really wanted and needed to go to get qualified for the Moose contigency program. You need to at least 50% of the races to get any cool Moose stuff at year end. I was also wanting to move up in series points from 3rd to 2nd in D22 Big B.
The wrinkle was that my wonderful wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant, and could go into labor any day. She let me go, the race was about 100 miles from my house, but I carried my cellphone on my hip all morning (even after changing into my gear), then when the race started, I handed the phone to a buddy of mine and said if this rings and it is my wife, flag me down on the next lap thru so I can load up and go. Fortunately nothing happened, and now I'm content to sit and wait at home. Maybe we'll have a little turkey this weekend!
How many guys have had a DNF due to labor pains?:)
Good ride agitt73, Mark Davis is hard to beat in that C class, but he's moving up to race with us B guys next year. Hope you can do the whole series next year. Does Mike Lair have a CR, I saw some poor guy stuck in the creek section they later routed to the fireline road, and that bike was just getting plastered with mud every lap. He was right in the line of roost.
Layton, how many laps did it take to get the hang of that 125? Maybe you could have picked a course with a couple more hills, that was definitely 200 country;) Congrats to Converse, that makes two in a row for him. Next year could be interesting with McKillip and Foster and who knows who else.
Actually it felt fairly good right away. I was surprised that I could even ride it but the weight and handling was much like the 200. Just no low end compared to what I'm use too.
You are certainly right about those up and coming riders but I think Phil will be a lot like Fredette, he'll be around for a long time.
yes mike lair was on the cr he found out later that he was still in secound
after getting out and was bummed that he did not continue but he did not
ruin his cylender this way he is moving up to A class next year the dude in
C class thats hard to beat i was in first until my kickstand bolt fell out
ive only raced 5 times this year and that was my best ride (first year of racing)
