i always wanted to know, how does running a higher ratio, like 40:1 richen your jetting? i read it in the jetting sticky, and doesnt make sence to me. shouldnt less oil make it leaner? just wanted to know, cause i run my mixture rich, but according to the sticky, that make the bick run lean??

Less oil than what? What ratio are you comparing to?
If you mean running 40:1 vs 32:1 ... which ratio do you think has more oil?

Your carb lets in a certain amount of gas/oil mixture and a certain amount of air. They mix and they ignite.
If you add less oil to the gas/oil mixture, you are introducing more gasoline into your motor compared to a mixture with a higher oil content. That means you are igniting a mixture that is richer in gasoline than if you were using a mixture that had more oil and less gasoline in it. It is the gas/air mixture that is determining the richness of the fuel igniting. Less gas=leaner; more gas=richer.

umm, isnt more oil=richer. ive been working with motors since i could talk, and that is always what i have known. less oil would be leaner, because there is more gas then oil. maybe it was a typo. i am 100% positive that more oil(32:1) is richer then less oil(40:1)

More oil is leaner. When you speak of lean/rich conditions in a motor you are referring to the air/fuel ratio not the oil/air ratio or fuel/oil ratio. More oil in the fuel effectively displaces more of the fuel causing a leaner, yes leaner mixture.

for the record, i know how motors work  im just asking if you mix your oil/fuel mixture rich, i heard your jetting goes lean. i wanted to know why.

Because your jetting isn't about OIL/FUEL ratio, it's a matter of GAS/AIR mixture. more OIL less GAS, less OIL more GAS.

Hence, if you have a 40:1 mix versus a 32:1 mix, you have a richer GAS/AIR ratio and thus richer jetting.
