Mobil 1 Synthetic for shocks?

MX Tech recommends Mobil One Synthetic ATF as oil for rear shocks. Has anyone tried the ATF in place of shock oil? :think:

I have MX-Tech suspension on my YZ with syn. ATF and its fine

I have my rear shock apart and plan to use Mobil 1 ATF for it and new front fork fluid (with the new springs :)). Any idea how many quarts I'll need? I haven't done any suspension work before and this has been a real learning experience so far (along with a top-end job on the engine and new waterpump seals).
