This is B.S. It's would be one thing to see a reply that JBS was going to have a 450 at Unadilla. I think the racing has been good (beacuse of whom the players are and what they are doing - good or bad) so far sans the tv coverage. Thanks to my trusty truck for road trips to the nats. I'm sure you all will gloss over this for a few more digs, but remember; if you were he what would you do (at age 19)?

It would be nice to turn a corner on this thread.

As a James Stewart fan I would like to point out a couple of things.

I am dissapointed as anyone would be when your guy doesn't win as convincingly as I'd like....I do know Stewart will over time. I've seen enough over the years to have a good feel for which one's going to do well....Stewart is going to be a major player. I just want to see it NOW! Therefor a little dissapointment,

His antics are a blessing and a curse. I happen to like the enthusiasm. I also don't mind the brash irreverence. Hannah was just as bad and even in his retired years would say things about how the current generation (during the 90's) sucked to the point he thought he could school them on the track because of their lousy work ethics..(He was RIGHT!!).....part of the entertainment value of Bob Hannah for me. Same with James Stewart and BOTH had the god given talent to back it up. Stewart is a 19 year old kid and showing that cocky attitude is to be expected. I happen to get a kick out of it. Hope he doesn't change. Those with a more "Midwestern" outlook in life want to see some kinda "Ah Shuck's" type of presentation.....not me! I grew up in New York and spent time in Colorado and that low key stuff was just damn annoying at times. There is a sort of dishonesty in that crap...a mask over the competitive nature in the name of being polite. Show how you REALLY feel. Stewart lays it all out as he feels and sees it I appreciate it.

Alessi's was slightly different as his crap truely was done prior to any National success at the Pro level. That Alessi marketing was both arrogant and annoying as it was pure BS and hype. Also personal at times. Not the same thing as Stewart doing dances AFTER A WIN! Why NOT in your face the competition?? Great for show value. James Stewart has already won National Championship Status. Alessi isn't close. Therefor my dislike of the Alessi presentation. I don't think humility is where I want James Stewart to go right now. He's taking top 3 finishes in his first year in the toughest class in the world! Thats bragging rights right now!

I have to admit I'm a reformed RC anti. He's earned a place in history. Too bad for the rest..including James Stewart; for having to come into their prime when RC is around. Of all the new players, ONLY James Stewart in on the same level as RC in outdoor MX (I couoldn't care less about SX). That is ALSO Bragging rights. What do you guys want? Him to just roll over and give up? I don't> I want the brash predictions showing some confidence and attitude. Partly because he HAS to be there mentally to be on the same plane as RC.

I for one am a bit dissapointed the racer I back as a fan isn't setting records every year. I know from a few years of watching this game its only a matter of time before he does....AND I feel lucky and grateful to be able to watch this sport when two of the greatest ever talents race head to head. guys just quit the bitter BS and get back to what this is really about. Entertainment and Ejoying the sport. Pease....And the seasons not over yet. AND when James Stewart finally begins to win;he will (AS RC did before him when he ran dowm MC) know he has competed with the best in his time.AND I know both James Stewart and RC got to where the are with both the combination of talent and tremendous amounts of hard work.

I have to respect that and the families that backed both riders. (I for one love watching that deep south turn out riders kicking butt on that layed back spoiled brat attitude typical from the California set....AND the freak show crazy garbage that also came out of California for a while..... :aj: Nice to see enthusiasn and honest hard work do the trick.

Based on his track record of the past ....(Most 125 National wins..ever, Amasing Amature Record), LAP times of the past (Last years 125 vs. 250 times in spitting distance of each other), and placings now with lap times during current races in his first year in the 250-450 class, same league as RC's..and already with a couple of National Championships to brag about. What else do you want?? ANd to really appreciate this kids talent you have to go to a race and see for yourself. When he's confident its worth the show..as RC is as well.

James Stewart has buld his career over MANY years in a steady methodical way to the very top class in the world.....and he's 19 years old. Just 19. Enjoy the fact you have the chance to watch these guys...amazing.

Doesn't he actually have ALL of RC's records, Pro and Amateur alike? ;) Face it guys. Unless he goes to NASCAB early, we're all going to be very bored for a very long time. lol. You should take some time and look at pics and video of Stewart on a 125 vs what he's doing now. He's functioning at 25% capacity at best and still pulling in 2nd's and 3rd's. Wait til he gets his shat together. It's going to be humiliating.

Bubba is great and all, but let's not get carried away. No doubt he will improve, but I don't think he will 'humiliate' the competition anything like RC has done. RC has records that Bubba will never get. Two perfect seasons. Soon to be 10 straight outdoor titles. An outdoor title every year since turning pro.

Bubba is now riding at 25% capacity? How do you figure that one? IMO, he is riding as fast as he ever has, but he can't hang with the GOAT.

Perhaps we can wait for Bubba to beat RC outdoors just once before we proclaim him RC's equal. FWIW, there have been 10 motos this year and RC has finished ahead of Bubba every single time.

Last time i looked reed had a sx title at 250s and a 125 title?and bubba has????? ohh yes 125 titles after sandbagging for ages-while bubba was looking to win titles reed was looking to try the beat the best-i know which on i respect, i want rc to go back to 125s to take the most wins back, that will mess up bubba-what will bubba have then in terms of going down in history?I dont respect him much for his cherry picking ways and big mouth.

rc is out front if not on the holeshot then hes walking away by lap 2 which is way before anyone gets tired . so the reasoning of bubba needs conditioning to hang isnt enough. he needs to be faster and conditioned. with just a teeny bit more he would get a handful of wins imho, if bubba could get a wheel in on rc every couple laps and keep some pressure on him rc will kick it up til he's washing out his front tire like he did in supercross til everyone started wondering about his rubber and bubba could skate for the win.........if i had the ability that would be my strategy anyway, at least til i was just downright faster for 40minutes

RC is the greatest of all time. He's a God. Stewart is a wonderful natural talent that will do things you'll never see again.

RC brought things to a whole new level with physical conditioning. He was hitting the gym regularily when he was a kid. It is not clear that JBS has what it takes (mentally) to do what he has to do to get there.

Sorry for not spending 20 minutes reading all six pages, but how does the gearing differ between the 250's and 450's? Are they fairly equalized?

I rode 250 2S's against my friends 400F, 426F and 450F, and even though both had 5 speeds, the thumper gearing seemed to be much broader. We could race somewhat evenly until getting topped out where he would pull like he had another gear (and I would eat his roost)

If the gearing is still like this from the race teams, I can imagine it would be frustrating to race a 2S outdoor.

In the end, I'm fine with 450's ruling outdoor. The 2S's are holding their own just fine indoor. Only thing that bugs me is how 125's are being forced into extinction. Wouldn't mind AMA at least tweaking that class to get some more 2S's involved, even if the 250F's rule outdoor.

We also have to face the fact that nowadays kids are getting trained at an earlier age, therefore performing extremely well early. Everyone says how "look how great Bubba is (almost RC's equal) and he is ONLY 19, just wait)....
Well, I have seen it before, RC has done it before.
Look at Michelle Wie in womans golf, I think she is in the LPGA, starting to be compared to a Tiger Woods... SHE is only 15... I am not trying to compare golf to motocross, just the fact that we should get used to these "younger phenoms" more so. I think Mcgrath said that he didnt start riding till he was 12.
I think Bubba will do great in the near future. I do remember reading an interview with JBS and he was speciffically asked about his training regimen. His reply was "the only training I do is when I go out shopping for rims for my vehicles. then laughed, then said that the only training he does is ride his bike all day"....which makes sense to me, but after seeing RC commit to the gym, and Chad Reed hire Jeff Spencer ( I believe Lance Armstrongs trainer), you see that you have to condition yourself more than just riding.
Speaking of Lance Armstrong (flame me if you disagree), but everytime I see him, I think of RC and the lack of recognition on a national level he gets. I know it is alot different in terms of endurance, but the only person I can compare to RC's dominace would be Lance Armstrong (which is a remarkable story)...

Training kids young to do extreem level sports is nothing new...go back and look at the womens (GIRLS) gymnastics in the 70's 80's even now.

No he wasn't. RC was a fat little kid that ate a lot of McDonald's (his words). He didn't even start training seriously until he had that rough first year in 250 SX. The next year he had a new trainer and the rest is history. He already had the intensity on the track, and with effort off the track, he's been almost unbeatable.

JBS is wise@ss attention seeker.
RC Talks about training(gym) and riding all the time.

I am sure that he was not training as seriously as he does now but that would probably kill a kid.

True true.....Bubba's fastest lap times have been about 2 seconds a lap slower than RC's.

JBS was a little kid who barely said more than two words in the couch scene, but for giggling because RC thought that the Dairy Queen was something unique to his town..
