The AMA website <http://home.ama-cycle.org/> has a great "question of the month". What's the most unusual thing you've carried on your motorcycle?

Some of my favorites so far: A lawn mower. A live 30 pound snapping turtle. A 5-foot-tall metal knight in shinning armor.

I once carried a radiator for a 1972 AMC Hornet on the back of my '86 XL600 -- and without a luggage rack.

Ive strapped a chainsaw (in a case) to the back of an xr200 to clear trails, and I brought a new turbocharger for a car home in a backpack on my Honda Sabre, for a little over an hours ride. someones got to have something better than this...

A live kitten in the side bag, a VCR on the back and 5 topless dancers during spring break in Palm Springs. I used to have pictures but I had to burn them to make the new house wife ready!!:)

My wife loves to go to arts and craft shows (and spend money). So being the crafty person that I am, I talked her into going to one on my Vulcan 1500 (she can't buy anything big if we're on a bike, right?). To keep a long story short we rode the 30 miles back home with a very large and expensive framed painting between us. It was too large for her to hold under her arm so she put it between us. That large flat object sure acted like a sail. We managed to get it home, but not without a lot of stares.

Second strangest thing, a full golf bag with club and shoes.

Listen Pred, just cause your bridge is out don't mean you can turn all feminine on us! Stay on our side, don't go to the light. By the way, was your doctor a man or a woman.
And I'm not strange, I'm just socially challenged. :silly:

A RC model airplane. I built a rack that hung off the back of my KLR650 by about 2 feet or so. It held the disassembled airplane (wing and fuselage) and bounced a bit over the bumps.

An Amerigas propane cylinder. People sure look at you funny...

Speaking of looking at you funny, ever go through the drive through at McD's and Taco Bell with your wife on the back of the bike?

Back in the mid '80s I used to carry my skiis on the back of my bike!
I made a bracket that fitted across the back seat and then stood the skiis straight up from the rear footpegs - used to get some funny looks from people. The bummer was that at higher speeds the skiis would flex quite a bit and eventually the rear subframe cracked!

Eventually the ski areas stopped motorcycles from riding up the access roads, and I had to park at the bottom of the hill and hitch. I had more luck than most getting a lift up to the top as people would see the bike and take pity - especially if it was really cold! It was also a hassle finding somewhere to stash all your riding gear for the day without it getting stolen.

A few years ago at a Clear Creek clean up day I hauled the front fender off of an old truck, a manequin leg, and a cooler that had been used for target practice on my 82 SP 250.
Hauled the stuff from Primrose Canyon to Staging Area 3. Distance was approx 10 miles of whooped out jeep roads.

The only thing stranger than men on motorcycles is the women who love them :debil: :debil:

Two Ladies mounted my CB750 during the Muni strike in the early 70's in SF.
I put one in front and one behind me. Yep, had my hands full too.:)

We were trail riding with a friend and his kid. Something went wrong with the kids Suzuki 50. So my dad put the bike across his seat and rode to the next place where the road crosses the trail. It looked pretty funny and he got racked pretty good by a footpeg. Good thing it was Whitecloud. That place is wide enough you can easily fit a quad through.
