I was told the the power valve actuating rod is known to break off? It happened to me :bang: Unfortunately I was in the middle of nowhere so I had no choice but to ride it slowly out. Damage report...clutch basket, power valve rod,two gears, new crank bearings since It's open and gaskets/seals.

What year is that KDX, and how many hours are on it? When was the last time the top end was done?

Sounds as if someone was there before you and did not know about the lefthand threaded nut. I had the same problem. Good luck.
