i just got some of this stuff for my 2003 kawasaki kx125. is this a good oil to use 50:1. oh yea i have stock jetting. is this better than castrol tts? thanks
I dont know which is better . but we have used Motul 800 for the last couple of years without any problems.
I wouldnt use less than 33-1 on any hard ridden , small-bore 2-stroke..........
I would tend to agree with viking20 that 50:1 might be cutting it close. I did run 50:1 and now am running 40:1 and I did seem to see a difference in the amount of oil in the engine when I tore it down, and the piston seemed to be holding up better. I've heard good things about Motul, but I've not yet tried it. I've been using Castroll TTS for a few years now with no problems.
I've been running Motul 800 for years and have zero problems. I run 32:1 and have no carbon build up or sticking powervalves. At rebuild time, the piston and bore look excellent. Good stuff.
I have run Motul in 250 2 strokes for 10 years at 50:1 and have never had a problem. It is the best stuff I have ever used but I have never tried Castrol. I tried 32:1 this year when I got my 05 RM250 because that is what Suzuki recommended. The bike ran poorly and smoked so I went back to 50:1 and it ran noticeably better. I know I could have jetted it to run the same on 32:1 but it burned a lot cleaner at 50:1 and I have never had any issues with wear when doing a tear down. I would suggest trying both and see how your bike reacts but I do not believe 50:1 will harm your bike. Motul recommend 50:1 on there web site for GP MX and you know those guy wring a bike out pretty good.
Hi i use motul 800 with a 95-96 octane pump fuel here in Australia and i use a 32-1 mix and its great when you strip the engine the crank and all parts have a light red coating of oil and engine always looks new with no carbon build up ,only problem i have ITS EXPENSIVE lol :yikes:
Has anyone used the new RS-7 synthetic premix oil from VP? They claim is that it makes more power than any other oil on the commercial market, and that they have invested more engineering into this product than any other product they make.
Or another way to look at it, if you have spooge it's because you are using way more oil than the manufacturers recommendation. It's hard to trust 50:1 I know. The numbers just look wrong, but for this oil it is the way to go. For the price you don't want to be wasting it.
I've been using it for years, after Dick Wilk recommended it when he rebuilt my POS KTM engine. I mix it at 50:1, or 60:1. Motul says 60:1 for dirt bikes, IIRC. You only need to use more if you are roadracing.
