Anybody running the victory race in Mountain City this weekend? It was cancelled last year due to snow, but I heard a bunch of guys did a trail ride anyway. I'm looking for a little info on what to expect of this track.

I'll be there. Weather looks like it will be better than last year too. I'll be on my CRF #436. We talked to Steve Litz (from Pro-Action in Blountville) and he said the track is rocky but fun. I've never ridden there but have heard that it is open to bikes and ***s in the winter. The rest of the year its horse trails.

Looks like we may get a little wet/muddy. I'll be in a Chevy AstroVan pulling 3 Gas Gas's ('00 200, '01 250, '02 125). Horse trails...sounds like it might be fast?

I only made the hill once. My bike shut down about a mile into my second lap. I heard alot of complaints about the hill, I think most of those were motorcross guys trying out hare scrambles. I loved the track, I just wish there hadn't been so many wide open road sections. That was my first race on my new bike, and I can tell I'm gonna have fun...if I can keep it running. So Andy, do you run most of the victory series?

What class were you running? You must have got to that hill before it became the rutted, rooted, and bike trashing hill we hated. When I got to it there was plastic laying everywhere. Everyone had to push bikes up the hill, even the pros. I thought the rest of the course was pretty good. Riding down the creek was fun, I caught a few people in there.

I am going to ride the entire series. I have been riding the 250-Open beginner class. I am hoping to finish in the top 10 in points. One guy I ride with is leading 40+ Novice and another is 3rd in 25+ Novice.

I was in 250-open, so we were 3rd row. It was just starting to get backed up when I got there. Like I said, I only made it to the hill once, but I drove over with one of the pros, and he said they were having trouble with it from getting behind other people wrecking. By the time I got to the creek, I was all alone. I probably rode at least half of the first lap by myself. I'd get behind somebody, and if I could ever see through the rocks they were throwing, I generally made a pass. My suspension was great, or I would have been on my butt alot.
I hope to do the rest of the series. I won the 240 beginner last year, but I just switched classes (from 0-240 to 250-open) this race, and with the DNF, I don't have much hope this season. We usually meet up with the Fenceprosracing.com, and some of the mark IV guys. They're motocross guys, but trying to get into harescrambles. You're in beginner class, is this your first year in harescrambles? One thing about the beginner class...just show up to all the races, you should do good. I won last year with three second places finishes and an eigth.

On the first lap the 250-Open guys had a clean shot at the hill. There was a bottleneck on a hill before that and we were getting lapped waiting to get to it. It wasn't even a hard cliomb. I rode a race at the end of last year and a couple of other hs races this summer. I've ridden for at least 10 years but I'm just now starting to get serious about it. I was always the fastest guy in our group. All those guys quit riding and I started riding with some new guys. They are alot faster than me but I'm getting faster. I missed the first race this year. I had bike problems before I even signed up, that was the reason I got the 450. I ligned up beside a guy from Mark IV at the VCHSS race in Wytheville. He was on a XR400 and said it was his first hs race.

Hopefully the next race will be more like the one in Hickory. It was semi-tight but had a good flow too it and it didn't bottleneck.
