I don't want to make this another Chapparal hunting thread, but all 3 orders I've given Chapparal were screwed up big time. MX South deserves to be considered on a totally different plane than Crapper-all, IMHO. I know nearly nothing about the people that run DRN, but I do know that the people at MXSouth made good by me and they will get my next order. (and no, I won't even bother them with a phone call, email works great)

You knew I couldnt keep quiet.

Yes Jeff is not worshiped by all! Kudos to those who have balls to give a "review" of MX South of "Your" experience. I am not going into my issue from last year but I will say that they dont get any of my business. In my book MX South is the east coast Chapparal wantabe.

the onlyy problem I ever had with MXSouth was that something I ordered was backordered. Hardly mx south's fault but what I got was an immediate phone call stating the dilema, then a phone call at a later date stating that the backorder was filled and if I wished to keep the order going. I am a happy customer. They answered all my questions about what they have in stock and how they fill the orders and how they ship them out. They answered all my questions about rush shipping and direct delivery from the manufacture honestly in the fact that it would be costly. Profit is not a dirty word and I appreciate the honesty I got.

I do buy from a lot of different places and will continue to do so. Price is a major influence so it is not uncommon to buy my complete order from different places . If I need it quick having it in stock and rush shipping is a main priority well thats a different story. I am not loyal to them but they have treated me fair and I will keep them on my list of places to buy from without a doubt.

With the exception of that stupid "Performance Bicycle", I've never had a bit of trouble with ANY mail order place. Not Chaparral, MXSouth, Dennis Kirk, MAW, Speed&Sport, AMS, CharlieRichardson, Hughs, Victorias Secret, Fredericks of Hollywood, etc. You guys that have trouble must be ordering wrong. Don't expect something-for-nothing with free next day shipping thrown in.:)

Last year I was in need of a sub-frame. Many suppliers advertised it for $169. I called Jeff at MX South; he could get it for $179. "But Jeff will you match their price?" Jeff: "Sure will....if they can get it for you." Coool! I spent 30 minutes or so calling around....yep, the other suppliers can get it for $169, but it'll be at least a month. Jeff had it for me in 3 days! ;)

Last Christmas I was looking high and low for some MX PJs for a friend's 2 YO. Couldn't find 'em at any of the "big" places. I called Jeff for help. He starts a search that lasted for 2 days. He calls me back, no joy, couldn't be found. Great customer service at zero profit. I knew if he couldn't get 'em, they couldn't be had.

Jeff has many direct resources that often times deliver quicker than "stocked" items from other mail order companies. He's been very good to me.

BTW The extra 30 minutes or so I spent on the phone was not worth the potential $10 savings.

Well I must be a smart idiot also for ordering from Jeff. If Rocky Mountain doesn't have what I need, I give Jeff a call and have it in about 3-4 days. In fact he even calls me if there is a problem with the order or its going to be late. Its neat talking to the owner and we even BS about riding once in a while.

Here's my experience. I'm going to try not to give my ideas, just the straight facts. I ordered a DID x-ring chain from Rocky Mountain. Good service, good prices, got here in 4ish days with normal shipping. Cut the chain 4 links short, decided I needed more links. On Saturday, I called up MX South to order some. I made this decision because of all the good things I'd heard about them here. The guy on the phone didn't seem to know what he was doing, and it took about a half an hour to make the order, but it got made. I payed for three day shipping, and they subtracted the DRN discount. I called them back on Tuesday just to see where it was. Took them about 5 hours to find my order. Craig (my helper this time) told me it the parts I needed were in two different warehouses, and they were sent out a day late. I called back two hours later to talk to Jeff. Busy. Called back again, I got to talk to him. He said that it was a small order that was in two warehouses, and he made me feel like my order wasn't that important to him. Granted, my order wasn't big, but he should have treated me like I ordered 8 CRFs, right? He said that they had gone ahead and moved the order up to two day shipping. I said that'll get here a day later, but I don't have any choice.
Well today (Thursday) was the day after three day shipping sent out at the right time should have arrived, and they day two day shipping sent out late should arrive. The UPS truck drove by an hour ago. Called up MXS, asked what was up. The lady on the phone said that the warehouse must have sent the order out later than they expected. She then went on to explain that I shouldn't complain because I had the DRN discount, so I was really only paying the amount for ground shipping. Well I would have paid the full amount, but I get a DRN discount, anything wrong with that? In conclusion, I may have a chain by tomorrow, but it will be two days and a lot more annoyance than I wanted. Just the facts
