Okie, I'd love to ride the track, too--. I just think that a world competition should take place on a somewhat more technical track. Again, my only experience with this track is pics and vid clips, which are numerous enough on the internet that nearly the entire track can be seen.

I watched an old race on tape last night from 03, ernee france, the one were Everts won the 125, 250 and 650 classes in one day... the same MXDN track, and it looked pretty technical too me... That place has full on cork screw turns were they are droping allot of elevation ie. laguna seca, with multiple lines, and very deep ruts... It has allot of wierd looking jumps that you have to land in a turn, you land turning... and a down hill with two very large step downs... We all saw those photos of the track freshly groomed, but after those guys do a couple laps the ruts appear... The racing is almost better (too me anyway) on a super smooth track because guys were able to change lines mid corner... Their was'nt just one or two good lines, there were endless amounts of options...

Less technical track = closer racing. It's always been that way.

I think the track looked good and had a few challenging spots, but it was fairly tame relative to the beat up, whooped out, rutted tracks typical of the US national circuit.

I've got no problem with using that track for the MXdN - it helps the less talented guys stay a little closer, which makes the overall race more interesting. The top guys will still win, they just lap up to 15th instead of up to 10th place like they would on a brutal track. Also, instead of 5 riders crashing out, maybe only 2 or 3 do.

I see the confusion now-its so obvious,i just watched a practice vid, the track was super smooth and not technical, when you do see the actual race you will see a very cut up track thats not at all easy to ride, only RC and Townley looked at all comfortable.

The MXdN track in France was a true MX track. In the early 70's I was living and racing in Germany. Most of the MX tracks like Gaildorf you could visit a week before a GP and all you would see was a pasture covered in grass. A few days before the race they would stake out the track put up snow fence and cut the grass. There was nothing manmade about it. Lots of elevation changes, wide open corners, off camber turns and some serious hill climbs were the order of the day.

First practice on Saturday morning was grass track MX but after 125, 250, open and sidecar practice the track would be totally changed.

I think that one of the reasons that MX is losing spectator appeal is that it has become a jump fest funeral procession instead of bar banging racing. If people want to watch motorcycles jumping they can watch FMX. If they want to see good handlebar to handlebar racing they can watch Supermoto.

i think the poor promotion and handling of the events by the AMA doesnt help, plus everyone knows RC will win so whats the point in going.

Looking at the GP facilities vs the AMA races, the AMA races look very amature IMO.

I have not seen any of it and have read very little about the race, besides the results. But Marcus Gunby's statement quoted above tells me it was an awsome track to have a race like this at. Great parity; advantage to no one. Don't we all enjoy a new challenge to keep us from being bored? Put them all on the Peoria TT track one year to see who adapts the best, that's what I think.

That's what I love about racing classic/vintage moto-x. We race on the same sort of tracks, ala natural (sp) (albeit a much smaller scale).
