Lately things havn't been going well for me... I'm still having problems with my car accident injury and the Dr. told me it is likely I will never heal and be in contant pain the rest of my life. There is still no answer to where my Migranes are coming from... it's been 10 months now and they suck ass. I think I could deal with the constant pain, but migranes... no way. Since my age, there is a chance that I will heal in a few years but only time can tell. Then to top it off my insurance is cold blooded and screwed me financially by not covering the anathesislogist... and I now owe several grand to my Dr. in addition to the treatments not covered by my insurace that I pay out of MY pocket each month which took basically all my income and left me for broke. It sucks because my business really started to take-off and I would be making a really good income if I didn't have to pay all these stupid medical bills. All of it has been too much to handle and It's really brought me and my spirt down and I'm bitter about all of it. I try to be tough and act like everythings ok, but it sucks... and its hard. I know it could be worse, but crap... I wish it would be at least a little bit easier.

So... My dr. told me to go ride... no jumping, and no racing... to try and get me out of my funk... He also suggested I take part in some activities to keep my mind busy so I enrolled in the local college learning ASL and karate. Then to cheer me up, my bf got me a puppy. Which was really kickass since I lost my dog I had since I was 5 a few days before my accident and my hearts been empty without "man's best friend". I got her last week and her name is Kiburi (key bo ray) or Kibu for short. It's great to finally have a best friend again!!! She is a papillon/poodle mix... You can check out her pics here... http://performancefactorymx.com/kiburi/

Anyways, I guess I just wanted some support from my friends and get some frusterations off my chest.

It could be worse Jenny, the doc could have told you that your migranes are caused by an allergic reaction to yamahas & you have to trade it in and get your old suzuki back. :nener:

Hang in there girl, you have to tell yourself to get well. I was told as a kid I would never walk. I still don't dance too well and riding is marginal at best but I'm a walkin' mo-fo. I'll say a few words for ya to the Big Guy upstairs.

I suggest you find another dr that is more supportive - there is a reason why they call them medical "practices" - if they had all the answers, they could lose the "practice" part...

Jenny, I have seen at Dirtweek your strength and determination. You may be at a low spot now, patience is hard to come by at times, but you have a great new "best friend" to see you through this.
That is a darling little puppy! You surely know you have a lot of friends wishing good things for you.
Prayer changes things, so I'll get started tonight.

Jenny:
It is great to hear from you. I've noticed you were missing recently around the living room lately, but figured that you were busy with work.
As tnrider said, you might want to find another doctor and get a second opinion as to what the problem might be. If it has been 10 months without improvement and only a pronosis that you "might" eventually get better, what would it hurt. Sure it may cost you some money out of pocket, but a new doctor might see something your current doctor is missing.
Regarding your insurance, talk with the Insurance person at your doctors office. Sometimes they can change a catagory on their service and get it to go through.
Cute puppy!! Y'all need to come to the family reunion next week. :yeehaw:

Don't believe the doctor!

I have countless "you'll never heal" stories that prove doctors are very often clueless.
It sometimes seems as if the docs and insurance companies are conspiring to drive you insane.

For your migraines.

For your mood and joints.

These things are kind of pricey, but you can often find special offers if you watch for them.

Stay away from St. Johns Wort if you're taking any meds as it can decrease their effectiveness.

Keep your head up, sounds like things can only get better. Good luck getting all the insurance stuff straightened out and hopefully the doctors can figure out what exactly is wrong and treat it. Migranes don't sound like much fun. But on a positive note, if your doctor said to ride - get your butt out to Cooperland next week! And bring Kiburi - she is a little cutie! Great pix - looks like she's got a lot of personality. She's so tiny!

Jen,

Good luck with things. Times are tough for a lot of people but you have a leg up b/c of your friends.

I know how it is to suffer from migraines. I'm fortunate that I do not have any anymore but that is b/c I have completely cut out caffeine and reduced my fast food diet 90%. My migraines were from poor diet. I hope you find your trigger soon and can overcome them.

I wish you the best.

Hey Jenny-- missed seeing you around these parts! That lil puppy is a real cutie. Now, follow Dr.'s orders and get yourself over to Dirtweek! Maybe the jumping and racing is out for now, but there's a whole world of riding (like, trials) that can keep you limber and teach you some new tricks. With your ability on a unicycle, I bet you'd pick up trials in a heartbeat. Then, when you hit the MX track again, (and I just KNOW you will), you'll be ahead of the game.

Stay strong, and keep plugging away. Things WILL get better.

Sorry to hear the struggle is still on going.
If traditional Migrane medicine does not work, do some research on tension headaches. Soft tissue damage, stress, and tension in your neck can cause enough inflamation to pinch the nerves, thus giving you the headache. Good Luck!

Jenny ~ Good to hear from you again...sorry to hear things aren't looking up for you. Keep your chin up and think as positively as you can. I agree with everyone that has said seek a 2nd opinion on your condition, you don't need a negative doctor to bring your spirits down.

As far as the migraines, have you considered a chiropractor? I was in a car accident in 2000 (not as severe as yours but nonetheless I had severe whiplash to my back and neck)..after a couple of years of suffering severe back and neck pain along with migraines I finally decided to pay a visit to a chiropractor. He cured my migraines through neck adjustments and I haven't had one since. A lot of people don't believe in chiropractors and consider them witch doctors, but speaking from personal experience I highly recommend them.

Now, get you and your puppy down to Cooperland next week! It'd be great to see you again!

Awwwww, cute puppy Jen. Puppies are the best! I know after a long exhausting day at work I can't wait to get home to my new puppy. She instantly puts a huge smile on my face with all her puppy kisses.

As far as doctors go, what do they know. They're all quacks! ;) You should talk to AJ. He's been told he would never walk again, never ride again, never be normal again......well, they may have been right about that last one but..... they were wrong about the others. :)

It may take time but you're a strong, determined person. I'm sure you will be back feeling like your old (young) self some day.

Jenny Jenny!! You are one of the COOLEST and most resourceful people I know. I'm sorry that your medical pains are taking over your life right now, but the good thing is, it WILL change. You said that your creative work is getting a big boost, so as soon as your med bills are taken care of you can bask in all that glory and keep moving forward!!!! You've already laid a good foundation for future success with your career.

The whole month of August absolutely SUCKED for me and that's partly why I never got those articles to you. The good thing was that it forced me to step back and FIX all the things that were wrong and now I'm moving forward again. YOU TOO WILL MOVE FORWARD AGAIN!!

Maybe that puppy was the best way to start to put that spark back in our Jenny!!

Jenny,

You know you have many friends here and you will be in our prayers. If the Doc told you to ride, do what he says sensibly and come see us at DW. I happen to know that there will be a doctor there who might be able to give you a second opinion or at least additional advice.

Hope we see you at DW.

Thanks for the well wishes and good thoughts... This Dr. is I think the 12th one I've seen so far and he is the only one to really give me answers. He gives things to me straight, yet in a positive light. Other Dr.s were just plain mean, or didn't pay attention to me since my injury was from a "car accident" and they assume your just after money when whatever test they look for comes back normal since physically I look ok. I finally found a Dr. who has given me some answers, cares, and he is also the first whom I can call 24/7 and talk to him if I have any kind of complications. However, I will have to seek another Dr. for the neuroglical stuff... after I ride or do anything physical with my arms, its very painful I get shooting pains down my arm like I'm getting shocked by electricity. At least I can ride during my recovery... and he encourages it since he knows how much better it makes me feel.

I hope to make Dirtweek for the last 3 days, but Kibu wont' be able to make the trek with me. :( She can't get fleas since my grandma is allergic to the poison (if fleas got in the house) and we have to keep her only in our yard.

Kibu definaly helps make me feel better, she is so excited when I get home and she follows me whereever I go in the house... Even with her tiny size I have taught her how to go up and down the stairs and its halarious. She runs up at full speed and going down she goes so fast her legs can't move fast enough so she just ski's down by sticking out her front paws and slides down until she gets to the bottom stair and jumps off. After two weeks of being home she is doing really well in her housebreaking and knows several commands. I think in another 2 weeks she will be fully housebroken. She's very smart and kickass for sure. :)
