About 6 months ago I went to fill the Clark Desert gas tank on my 1996 kx500 only to find the rubber seal had fallen to pieces and was floating around in the tank. It's never happened to any of my bikes before so I thought it was a bit strange but didn't really look into it. I replaced the gas cap with a Clark plastic cap and thought nothing more of it. A few days ago I went to refill it and same thing, bits of black rubber floating around in the tank.I use regular gas mixed
32-1 as I do,and have always done, on all my bikes.
Am I missing something really obvious here?
Thanks in advance
Bob

Anything sharp on the tank opening?

I'd inspect for anything that could be causing a tear, and if nothing is found, maybe only lightly tighten the cap from now on.
