need a dual sport

thinking about getting a dual sport for commuting to work and playing on the weekends. only about 5 miles to work surface streets. my dad needs a thumper to play with in the desert, his cr250 is too much for him. figured i'd buy something like an xr400 thats street legal, and he can use it when we go out and ride. i think a 650 might be too much for him. its GOTTA have electric start. not sure what models and years came with that, so any ideas?

Get a good four stroke and just add the street conversion yourself.. Baja designs has enduro kits or whole street legal kits like you are talking about for most bikes.. look into that

Make sure you can get it registered in your state before you start down the "convert a dirt bike" road. Some states are easier than others.
