Need Dirtbikers to attend Shoreline, WA Meeting Tomorrow (Wed) 6:30 pm

We need some attendees to go to this meeting and get their voices on the official transcript SUPPORTING the president's initiative to relax the rules on Roadless National Forest areas that the earth muffins want treated as quasi-wilderness! The meeting is this Wednesday night in Shoreline, WA at 6:30 P.M. Please volunteer to attend and make sure the transcript contains your words supporting the Bush administration's efforts to relax the restrictions on National Forest Roadless Areas!

Thanks to everyone who sent letters to the Forest Service
opposing the Bush National Forest Giveaway. If you haven't had

As you probably know, the Bush administration has proposed to
repeal the Roadless Area Conservation Rule, which protects 58.5
million acres of our last wild forests, including 2 million
acres in Washington. This misguided proposal opens our last wild
forests to logging, mining and drilling. These pristine areas
provide safe drinking water and recreational opportunities for
millions, as well as crucial wildlife habitat for many
threatened and endangered species.

During the development of the Roadless Rule the Forest Service
held over 600 local public meetings and hearing, including 45 in
Washington alone. But, the Bush administration has failed to
schedule even one hearing to listen to the American people.

The Heritage Forests Campaign and our partners have organized
our own hearings throughout the country. Below is information
about a hearing in your area.

I was just ready to "cut and paste" and post.

The people opposing the repeal of the "roadless act" really mislead the masses. If you read the fine print, a "roadless" area does not contain "regularly maintained" roads, but may very well contained roads that are occasionally maintained. That could be almost any unpaved road in any National Forest. Furthermore, once an area has been "unroaded", it's Wilderness protection protential greatly increases. So even if it cannot ever be delared by Congress as "Wilderness", Wilderness Study Areas are often required to be managed in such a way not to ever detract from it's Wilderness potential.
Compliance mean NO WHEELS and NO MOTORS.
