Hi I need some input on picking a new bike out I have now a 00 cr 250 but I want to get a new 02 bike.
I have rode the new 02 yz 250 and it felt great good motor & suspension. I have had my 00 cr suspension done about 8 months ago but it dose not fell half as good as the yz did stock
I like the yz but just after a yr or so they look a tad beat on tank & stuff.

I like the 02 cr (I like my hondas) but I was reading that the motor
is weak or not to strong. I have not rode one yet so I can not say.
And I also would like to know is the 02 honda a lot better then the 00 like in the turning & suspension or are they about the same?

And now on to the CRF 450 I have rode the yz 426 and I liked it
the turning & motor was top in my book. So hows the CRF just as good or should I wait a yr for a few bugs to be worked out of the CRF ?

Any info would help
Thanks Ron.

For what it is worth the 02 Honda won the Dirt Bike 250 2 stroke shoot out.
The light weight, the handling and suspension were its winning points over
the YZ.

If I were to get a 02 250 it would be the CR. I hear they are supposed to be really sweet. Not only is the handling and suspension great, but from what I remember reading the CR had more peak HP than the YZ, but I can't remember how the rest of the motor was, but I never remember hearing the word weak motor used on the CR 250. It was used on the CR 125, but from what I remember hearing the CR 250's motor is great. If you read that the motor was weak from MXA don't believe them they always pick on everthing that isn't blue. The YZ is sweet though I rode one and it is fast. I bet you would be happy with either one, but I personally would go with the CR if it were me.

The magazines say the CR is underpowered, but I watched two equal riders
really struggling to get out of a baked dry, tractionless corner and over a double. A 2002 CR 250 was jumping slightly farther than a 2001 YZ 250 could get, both good riders. You had to square off and just drive, and the CR was getting the job done. The owner likes the power.

The only mag I saw a shootout in had the YZ as the favorite. But two of the four testers said all 5 (CR,YZ,KX,RM, & KTM) were so close that the best dealer or best price could make the difference for them.
