With the weather getting colder I have had to turn in the air screw on my 1994 kdx 200 to the point at which I am now 1/4 turn out. Fearing things will conitue to get colder and not being able to turn the air screw in much any more to lean the low end out, I have purchased a 45 pilot. Is there any rule of thumb for needle jet clip position and dropping pilot jet size? I was running 48 pilot with the needle jet clip in the second from the top (short end- Lean)position.

You need to richen your jetting in the winter not lean it. Turning the a/f screw clockwise richens the circuit. If you are truely lean with a 48 pilot then you need to try a 50. You may also want to drop the clip (raise needle) and or install a larger main.
