hey,

i just purchased my first bike. It's a 2002 yz250f. It has big gun exhaust, black excel rims, tag bars and some other little extras. I got it for 2500. It also has the 2003 auto decomp cam upgrade.

1. Sometimes this bike is a killer to start. Can anyone tell me how this bike is supposed to be started? I literally kicked the bike for about 30 minutes with no luck. I turned on the choke and the hot start and she fired right up. I'm obviously not doing it correctly.

2. Bike backfires sometimes. I rode the bike fine for about an hour and then on the way back, i had constant mid throttle in 3rd gear, just cruising, It started backfiring a little and then stalled out on me.

i had to drive an hour to pick up the bike and there is almost a 600 foot elevation difference from his town to my town.

Should i have this bike re-jetted?

Yes, probably. And adjust your idle screw, and pilot jet screw.

Bike may have never been set up for the exhaust also.

check to make sure the valves aren't too tight, that might be causing the hard starting issue. Also, throw another plug on it too.
