I'm new here. I've been riding on the street for a few years and this spring I bought a DRZ400sm and started to get an idea how fun it must be to ride in the dirt. Last week I picked up a 2003 YZ250. It needs a little bit of work like new plastics and some more regular maintenance but I bet it's going to be a blast.

Welcome to DRN.

The YZ will be fun, but I know some guys that enjoy their DRZ in the dirt as well, even a few with the SM version.

I like dual sporting because you are not limited to tar strips.

Thanks for the welcome. I went on my first ride in the woods this weekend and it was great fun!

That's me in the middle with the red shirt and black helmet. The yellow bike is a buddy's. He put knobbies on his DRZ-sm 17" rims. He likes it but it's a little heavy compared to the purpose built bikes. The very muddy guy brought his DRZ-sm with Distanzia tires. You can tell by how much muddier he is that he had a rough time.
