There has to be a lot of work done before it can open, but at least we won the fight.

Yes, it is desert. There has to be a development plan produced first. I have "volunteered" to produce it. ANYTHING for some virgin dirt!!! :cool:

With a place like that I sure hope the study a topo and lay the trail out so there is not a lot of over lapping and criss-crossing. I would not exactly call that place desert. West Texas is actually a pretty cool place ride and surprizingly you can find a lot of technical stuff to ride!

I did several years of cross county seismograph work in west texas. That area has some hills, mesas, washes, etc all depending on the exact location. Did anyone try to locate the area on a typo map? Does anyone know the exact location.

I'm not sure of the exact location (maybe someone can chime in on this), the only info I've found is that its about 22 miles SW of Ozona, and about 12 miles south of I-10. Here's a topo map of Ozona. Use the zoom to scope it out.

According to the press release (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/newsmedia/releases/?req=20060130d), there's a 300 ft. canyon that they expect most of the trails to be in, so it looks like there will be a very nice elevation change there. Average elevation looks to be about 2500 ft. according to the topo map.
