People this is VERY SCARY!
I received an e-mail from a friend of mine and it says this in the body paragraph.

The 125cc and the 250cc. The 125cc are lower than the 250cc. The 125cc are
quick and light. The 250cc are well rounded, its fast, it isn’t too heavy or
too light.
There are a lot of sponsors for Motocross and Supercross. Supercross is
the exact same as Motocross but is raced in-doors.
Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KMT, Fox Equipment, Snapple and Sony
Playstation are all sponsors. The most recommended bike is either Kawasaki or
Honda.

I know right away that he did not write this because it looks as if it were written by a 7 year old. So I did not download the file but it is called county.zip and it has a .pif file in it???
I do not know what that file does but my virus scanner picked it up.

So please be warned! To me it is pretty scary to jump from the universal "Hey how's it going" message to all of the sudden talking about what we actually talk about!

WOW:debil:

A .pif ( Program Information File ) file is a DOS Construct file. If it did contain a virus, it could wreak havoc on your lower-level pc functions. Good thing you keep your virus program updated!:) That is scary, playing on something you love like that.

WOW the thing is, I didn't reconize the writing in the body or the file, So I scanned it and it gave me the whole "this probably contains a virus blah blah" so technically it didn't pick it up, But I confirmed with the sender that he never sent me any e-mail period, and I don't keep a contact list, So I must be in his correct?
I do have norton, and I did not report it. Should I? What should I say?

thanks guys!

Man this is creepy:mad:

Norton has a reporting procedure

When a virus is detected and deleted with Norton there is usually a prompt to send a report to them to start tracing it.

I never heard of virus that is specifically directed to a certain demographic group ---- dirt bikers!

It's almost like they used a program to run keywords or something?
This may sound real stupid but if someone wants me to send this file to check it if you feel comfortable scanning it I will, but Im not touching with a 10 foot pole!!!
It's zipped in my mail box and I won't unzip it, but I can see there is a .pif file and a pict file:debil:
I still can't believe that they can find out what me and people write about!
ARGGGGGGG

Contact Symantec--

<<-HERE->>

From what I understand, a virus is pretty simple to alter.

That is why when there are big outbreaks, they are usually followed by copycats, they just change the body text and send the same bug out with a different structure.

Don't mess with it, contact Norton Support and let them handle it.
Make sure you do a Live update on your Norton protection and then run a complete scan of your system.

Good Luck

Did you report it
If the virus scanner picked it up as a known virus, then the software company already knows about it. No need to report it. If, however, you only got a warning of a "possible virus-like file", then send it to Symantec, they will study it and send you a report, and if it is a new virus, you will have done us all a favor. It probably is not a new virus, however, as .pif files have sort of fallen out of favor with virus writers.

It can be an old one that has been tinkered with and made just to catch dirtbikers off guard.

From the content in the body, that is exactly what it sounds like so by reporting it they can start looking at it.
