I read an article already somewhere on here (i think) on top end break in....like ride on a flat road and just go back and forth first at quarter throttle, then half throttle, then 3/4 throttle, then start opening it up. but my question is should i run my honda GN-4 Mineral oil for break in then change to my synthetic or is alright to break it in with synthetic?

A properly set-up race engine does not have to be broken in. If your clearances are correct, just make sure you don't overheat the engine or let it bog for the first hour or so. One exception to that is a new camshaft. If you install a new camshaft it should be broken in or 'seasoned'. With a new cam the engine should be run for at least 20 minutes while keeping the rpm above the 3,000 rpm range.

Use a cheap non-detergent oil for the initial break-in and then go the to synthetic. Your rings will not seat in with the synthetic oil.
