No start from 97 RM250

Got a 97 RM250 that doesn't start, I have checked the basics (good spark, enough compression, and fuel present), have put 2 new plugs in cleaned out the carby twice pushed the bike down a big hill and not even a hint of starting, no backfires or pops just acts as if no spark but there is. Plug is wet upon removal. What 2 do what 2 do

This may be of no help,but last time this happened to me it sent by brother to the hospital. My RMX had the same symptoms yours has,and we decided to try and tow it with a strap with his atv to start it.Turns out the carb slide was stuck wide open,and it just kept flooding the bike.When it did start up it was running WFO in 1st gear,and we had some pain issues for a few days after that.
If the slide is not the issue,check the ignition timing.A loose stator will cause that problem also.Even if the bike has good fire,if it is at the wrong time it does no good. If the screws are loose, line things back up again and loctite them.

Sure it helps, thank you. The slide is not the problem though because I can operate it with the throttle, that is fine. I had a look at the stator, I adjusted it a bit and tried starting it again didn't make a difference so I turned it the other way same thing. I have a feeling it might be the timing because everything else seems ok and the flywheel has been changed before I owned it, maybe it wasn't installed properly or it isn't in time.

did you buy the bike like this? Wht all did you clean when you cleaned the carb? Did you pull the whole thing apart, jets, floats, etc.? Also make sure the floats are prop adjusted, should be around 16mm for proper set up or with the carb upside down they should basically be parrallel going across. Is your jetting correct? Even though you may have cleaned them are they correct size jets for the bike? What type of pre-mix are you running? What is your compression?

Ok checked carby again it has a 42 pilot jet and 162 main jet the floats are a little lower then parallel when the carb is upside down it has 145 psi the plug gets wet whenever I take it out after trying to start it about 5 6 times no backfires or anything at all

if your at 145psi I would do a top end, some people say its enough to fire it up, but my rm250 is running over 200psi easily, my 96 was the same way 200+psiUnder 160 I would say its not enough in most cases

I want to get it running before I think about rebuilding it. But the damn thing doesn't want to start, How hard could it be it has spark has fuel has air probably has wrong spark timing though that's all I can think of right now
