Well I get to go in next week sometime to sign some confidentiality papers before I start working on Biomedex’s webpage. Then I can finally start making some money to put toward a newer bike :)

It looks like summer school plans are in store for me again this year. I’m not sure yet if I will be taking classes here at Gonzaga or somewhere on the other side of the mountains like the UW or BCC. Depending on which side of the state I am on will determine if I have transportation for my bike or not and of course theschool/class factor. But I sure don’t want to miss out on a homefry spodefest!

Bump. Are we dead yet? Not this soon. What day is it going to be? How can we recruit. Do we need campsite reservations? How about some taunting... come on people.

I sure hope this isn't dead yet... once a date is decided I'll make my reservations. For those that live near Seattle, or are flying into Seattle, let's get together. Maybe we could rent a multi-passenger van and a cabin or hotel room(s).

Woods

BTW - GSR, are you going to buy that new Katoom for me to ride? I'll give it the good 'ol woodsrider trail test :p

Looks like Father's Day weekend is the best for getting reservations for cabins, campgrounds and hotels. The Resort is filling up July and the week before Father's Day but June 15 - 17th is still pretty open.

So June 15 to 17 is the date!!! (Unless anyone strongly objects - Fremontguy, come on, you can schedule this one can't ya?)

Lake should be good for swimming, dependant upon what Spring looks like. Lakes in this area are never considered warm. Snow will be gone mid April and the ground in mid June is great riding.

The resort/store has showers and restrooms that you can pay to use even if you don't stay in their campground or cabins. So, you can camp out or rent a cabin or rent a hotel in Colville or Kettle Falls - about 25 miles away from the riding area.

Camping options are:

Beaver Lodge Resort & Campground
2430 Highway 20 COLVILLE WA 99114-9011 (509) 684-5657 Has campground spaces & cabins to rent not sure what the cost of the campground spaces are but cabins are from $45 - $65 per night. Need reservations for this one.

USFS Campground -
http://www.llbean.com/parksearch/parks/html/15278gd.htm
or http://www.fs.fed.us/recreation/recgov/visit_colville.shtml

No reservations for USFS Campgrounds at Gillette according to the Ranger, first come first serve. I'll scan the map ASAP.

Only problem with these are you have to push your bike from camp to the road - I think I pushed the CR500 about 1/2 mile both ways last time. Not bad for a warm up butttt that return push !!

There are several other remote/primitive spots that I like This is what we usually do - we know a couple secluded spots next to the creek, not too far from the outhouse but right on the trailhead.

Hotels: Never stayed in one but Benny's sounds nice.

Wow, bummer we're going to miss you guys out there. My wife and I are doing a tour on the street bikes this summer during the Fourth of July week, and our turnaround point is Orofino. Hope the huckleberries are in season by then.

I grew up in Spokane from 1971-1990, also lived in Seattle, Beaverton, Olympia, and of course, Mica (for about nine months). You guys are making me homesick.

Anybody making plans? How are we going to coordinate? I would rather stay in a bigger group just for more fun... any ideas? Father's day weekend sounds fine.

Ah HUH! So THIS is what all the scuttle is about! This could have been the reprise of the camera... but it's too close to the American Thunderbike rally in Breckenridge this year. CSL volunteered to lead an organized ride for the rally so I gotta go. (I just hope they don't pummel us for riding Italian bikes! 'Prolly need some Buell stickers for the Duc.)

i'll plan on being there...maybe bring a few friends. i like to travel cheap & camp out usually, but a shower or hot tub is nice in the evening when riding. things should be situated better for me by then for sure... (i will have my truck again this weekend.. new hi-po cam too... woohoo!) bad timing & crap happening stopped me from going to reno...
an agreed group hang out spot is probly a good idea.... dinner at a specific spot? a daytime location?

for our MX riding cohorts that may want to come, is there a track in any proximity?

Track? Not really. This is mostly pure trail riding. There are places where you can open it up and have fun but a lot of it's tight and technical too. It's a few minutes into Colville to have dinner--I think a group bonfire/camping potluck kind of thing would be fun. I plan on camping anyway, rather than spending $ on a hotel.

Closest track would be Spokane Airway Heights. I've heard of a couple private ones in Colville but none I know of for sure.

The campgrounds are first come first serve so we should try to get a count of how many people plan to camp and when they think they'll arrive. If we are up there by Friday morning we should be able to take over enough spots in a single campground for everyone to be together.

People interested in the cabins should get a res as soon as possible, they go fast. Probably same with Colville hotels.

The showers are at the Beaver Lodge Resort & Store. They have a small restaurant & 7 cabins there. You pay a buck or two & they let you in the showers - one men's, & one women's.

As for meals, we usually cook over the campfire. We bring some wood (depends upon how much room we have in the truck) and there are places to go get some wood. We will bring a chainsaw and splitting maul for additional wood gathering.

So, speak up if you know you are most likely going to make it, where you plan on staying and when you should arrive & I'll start a list.

Well that's no fun! :p

I really want to try and make this but I just cannot commit right now. Too many unknown variables. I will do everything in my power to try though! I don't want to miss the opportunity to ride with you guys again! :)

Enough space anywhere for a motorhome? If I come by myself (no fourwheelers or relatives) then I am coming, but if my family comes they will all be quading and bringing a large motorhome... any word?

Okay, here's my dilemma. Right now our house in Illinois is up for sale, since my employer has relocated to Upstate NY. Mrs. Woods is a school teacher in IL and isn't finished until June 8th. So, if everything goes as planned we could possibly be in the middle of moving to NY that weekend. Nothing ever goes as planned though.

I won't be able to make any firm commitments until the middle of May. But if I can get out there, I'd fly into Seattle the night of the 14th. Head over Friday and return to Seattle Sunday afternoon. If others are coming from the Seattle area, perhaps we can discuss some transportation options.

Transportation options--definitely. I will be heading over Friday, maybe mid-day, don't know yet. I would gladly carpool but: I have a Toyota regular cab shortbed. Bikes will fit fine, just have to drop the tailgate and put all the gear in between them. Cab can get crowded with two people so carry-on luggage would be limited. The offer is open though. I work very near Sea-Tac so I could pick you up whenever the plane lands. I don't know who else from this side of the mountains is in for sure yet.

BBBOM- I'll try and talk my dad into it, it shouldn't too hard considering Colville is only an hour away and he'd probably like to go riding down there. I'll try and talk him into it. Put us on the maybe list. What are the campground prices, for a tent?

i'm definitely there, camping. probly showing up friday, leaving sunday morning/afternoon.

if my younger brother can get a bike by then or of i can swing a spare by then or borrow one(very likely) he'll go, plus 2-3 other riding buds that might go. all of which would camp out most likely.

i have a toyota (std cab & bed), plus a three rail trailer, getting bikes there from seattle is not a problem, i can haul four easily & have room in the bed for gear... (but that's the max capacity of the truck)

I am 99% sure I will be there with lovely and talented wife and two wonderful daughters (4 & 6).

We need to know if there is camping space for our toybox style travel trailer at your normal camping spot. If we can't trailer camp with the group, we may cabin. The cost of cabin vs. gas for "the rig" is probably close to a push ;)
