jsmith, The WR is also a dry sump. The same rules apply when changing the oil in it. Most modern four strokes are dry sump. Keeps 'em cooler. I've owned an XR250 for 2 years now, and have had extensive saddle time on a WR, both stock and modified. The XR is a better scoot for tight woods riding. The WR can be pressed into service in the woods, but is most happy roosting thru sandy stuff and more open trails (with a more aggressive rider). I really enjoy both bikes equally well, just in different conditions. If I could find an extra $6,000 sitting around, there'd be a WR sitting next to the XR in the garage! What I'm really waiting for tho is the CRF250. I like the CR chassis better than the YZ (or WR), I'm short, and the WR is dang tall!
