Just picked up a 99 300 EXC First Euro bike and I love it!!! Great power Etc but ya'll already known that. Must be a slow learner or else a hardhead. Anyway my question is this. 1. why is black premix oil dripping from the back on the exhaust? The exhaust system is all stock. The jetting was changed by the owner but feels right on no bogging. and I'am running Maxima Castor 927 at 36:1 ratio. 2. How do you clean the power valve?

hey frank, that's just that substance known to science as "spooge". it's just unburned oil, all 2-strokes do it. it's more noticeable on a stock ktm b/c the muffler has no spout, so you get that chin dribble. you might get a little less by playing with jetting/oil brands/premix ratio.

Hey Lawman thanks For the info. Think I will try Mobil premix. I was looking at holeshotktm.com and a guy had the same problem and they were talking about changing to the famous #7 slide for the cure. My rice burners never had so much spooge. Just a little concerned with what might have been a used bike problem.

Frank, two comments. One, run the mix more like 45-50:1 with a good blend like Yamalube 2R or a full synthetic, and two, NEVER trust some other guy's jetting as OK. Pull the carb, note what is in it, tell us where/how you ride and the help will come.

Spooge seems to be a fact of life with woods riding. At least you can try to minimize it. The ooze builds up in the pipe and slowly makes it way aft, oozing out at the pipe/silencer joint. Mine blows it all over the shock due to a bad donut at the joint.

DUDE YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WANT , BUT I WOULD NOT CHANGE BRANDS OF OIL. MAXIMA 927 IS THE BEST! FOR WOODS RIDING ALL YOU NEED IS 40:1 OR 50:1. CHECK YOUR JETTING . CLEAN YOUR MID RANGE UP. IT WILL CUT OUT ALOT OF THAT BLACK CRAP RUNNING OUT.
