OK to hone rm125 cylinder??

I am getting ready to do a top end on my bike(03 rm125) and i was wondering if it would be ok to hone the cylinder? My manual says not to because there is some type of plating on the bore. If i cant hone it, can i just use a scotch-brite pad and move it in the criss cross pattern in the cylinder?

yes, you can hone it with a ball hone/flex-hone...

other wise just use scotch bright

Scotch brite has always worked for me.
