Still searching....

see if this link works for you:
http://www.nicholsonfun.com/new_veh...R0&veh1=59158&mfg2=2&veh2=58415&go=Go#compare

if it does....here are my questions:

1) is the Yamaha worth 1k more?

2) KLX is 2" longer....is that better? More stable?

3) KLS is about 2" shorter and I am almost 5'9" so maybe that is a good thing?

4) how close in power do you think they are? About the same? One is carb one is FI.

5) the KLX is 14 lbs lighter....lighter is better as far as acceleration all other things being equal.

My general feeling is if money is not a problem then get the Yamaha but for $1,000 less is the KLX a good bike?

Thoughts?

There is an issue with that dealers website info on the WR. It has, according to yamaha, a 6-speed. His site says 5 speed. All things being equal I would take the WR with fuel injection for a road legal bike rather than the kawi with carb.....FI should more than make up for the 15lbs. Yamaha is a better made bike, IMO. Dont look at length, look at wheelbase. The yamaha is than an inch shorter there. Usually a shorter wheelbase will mean the bike is quicker handleing......but an inch isnt going to do much. I know the yamaha has a better suspension too.

Thanks for the thoughts :-)

I am struggling with the KLX being shorter seat height, lighter, and a grand less money but that voice in my head says "get the yamaha......get ittttttt"

Ok, had the sales guy pull it out into the lot and spot me.

I hopped on and was able to touch the ground on both sides, though on my tip toes. He said there is some amount of adjustment I can do that will lower it a bit and it should lower itself a little one I begin riding.

It won't be until this winter or next spring but I am pretty certain that is the bike I will get - Yamaha :-)

The Yamaha is a great bike. I just bought a
WR250R about 10 days ago. Have about
85 off road miles since then. I am 6'-3" and
205lbs. Most of those miles have been on a
small local track with some decent size jumps.
No problems at all, and a blast to ride. The
suspension is adjustable, and the FI is great.
Overall I think the bike is on top of the list
if you are looking for a dual purpose with
more lean to off road. If going for straight
off road then go for something else. The bike
is a bit light on the low end torque IMO. I am
going to change the front sprocket out for
one less tooth. Should give me some good
pickup on the bottom end. As of right now
the bike will do about 85 to 90 on the street.
I can get 50 to 60 on the track pretty quick.

Youll love the bike, its really a blast to ride.
