I finally found some pictures of the 2003 KDX's. I'm sure most of you have already seen them, but for those of you who haven't here's a link -

That KLX 400R looks interesting.

The only thing keeping me of a YZ/WR 426 are the starting hassles.

What's with the frame? Is it all powdercoated the gray color that's visible?

Are the fork downtubes colored also?

What color is the shock spring?

Does 'advanced suspension' mean something has changed?

They don't say it (the 200) DOESN'T still come with a crapper chain.

Boo ! I don't want a green DRZ :D

Let's hope this merger improves things. Taking the others aging products, painting them the home color and rebranding them would not be an improvement.

Jeeze.

My experience is this is mostly urban legend. A buddy has a 1998 YZ400, supposedly the worst starting of the 400s/426s, and it really is a two or three kick bike, at the most. Just yesterday, cold as could be after sitting sideways in the back of his van for three weeks it started on the second kick.

Nope, not urban legend. I ride regularly with both a WR426 and a YZ. While sometimes they seem to start just fine, other trips they are a complete pain.

I'm refering to a number of things here.
a) The dang thing can break your leg if you kick it wrong.
b) Between the hot/cold start button, choke and decompression levers if you don't do it in the right order when hot (often) it can be a bear to start.

where, as my KDX, is alway a one kicker. I'd probably get used to it. But right now as I ride with these guys and watch them struggle at times I think, they aren't worth the hassles.

I'm fairly certain the KTM's and even the Honda aren't as bad. My fathers DR350 also starts with 1-2 kicks no matter what and he can't remember the last time he's used the decompression lever.

I'm also not reffering to the times when you drop it and flood it.

These IMHO are witnessed facks not legend :D
