Is this possible? I didn't see any markings on the rings. I noticed the ring ends are tapered (not cut at 90 degrees). Should I be worried if the tapered ends are facing the right way? True?
Piston rings should have some sort of marking on them, even if it is just a letter or number, that side should be facing up, my friend told me about rebuilding his yz250 and said it could be bad if they are not installed as directed
If the inside edge of the ring is angled, the wide part of the ring should usually be at bottom of piston. The theory is that the pressure during compression helps force the ring out against the cylinder wall. Hope that makes sense. I personally haven't seen any motorcycle rings made that way, just aircraft and cars.
