plans, off road truck

I am wondering where I can get some off road truck plans for building a frame? Or should I just build off an old truck frame?

For what kind of truck, What type of off road abuse do you hope to do with it?

Alot of trucks still have the stock frame with new braces for suspension mounts and roll cage bars tighting everthing in between....

Are we talking a "real" truck you drive, or an RC truck? Do you know what type of class/level of truck you want to build? What type of resources are you looking to spend on the truck? Depending on the class of vehicle will directly affect the cost. I have worked on Late Model stock cars and would bet that the cost of a truck wouldn't be far behind. I'd expect to see dollars in the range of $40K-$60K for something you can compete with.

Am I way off base or was that the info you were looking for?

i am tring a F150 4x4, like a 80's or early 90's. i not going to race it. just want something to have fun with:p . i am geting a wealder.:debil:

Sounds like you might just want to go get a lift kit for it and some big tires and wheels. If you are really ambitious go for a suspension lift kit. Put a nice steering wheel on it and you'll be good to go. :)

How about some lockers. Skid plates may be a good idea. I also reccomend a brush guard and a winch.

You'd be better off using an old 2wd Ford pick-up. In Hunky's book Monkeybutt he touched on some of the ins and outs of bulding a pre-runner type truck. The old Fords are desirable because you can get 12" of travel out of the twin I beam front end relatively cheaply. Plus the twin I beam front end is stonger than the conventional short arm/long arm set up on the Chevys.

How do you mean? The drastic -/+ camber change as the suspension cycles through its travel?

Forget the F150... get a F350

Just make sure you get a straight front axle... lots stronger

Solid axles don't ride as well because they are incapable of independent movement.
