Please help

I am new to dirtbikes and just got a 2005 yz250f. It starts fine and runs fine choked. But when i take the choke off it dies (if i give it gas it kinda backfires, then dies). I know its prolly something with the carburetor. I dont know much about engines so im going to take it in just to be safe. Please tell me what could be wrong and how much it is going to cost to fix

clean out the pilot jet in the carb.

if you need help/instructions, head to your local yamaha dealer and purchase a manual.
