come on!!!!!:think a 12 year old 100 pound kid riding a 250. and not only a 250 but a ktm 250 sx the most hard hitting 250 in its class and on top of that he isnt riding in the desert where you dont have to throw the bike arouif you dont want to but hes riding in the woods. honestly is this supposed to be a joke. my friend who is 5'8" and 140 pounds has a cr 250 and has a hard time with it in the woods so i dont see how he can possibly ride this bike for more than a foot!!!!!!! My favorite part however is when you say, " The bike is a little big for him but it is much easier for him to control in the woods than his CR80 was." i cant fathem how a bike that is way to big for him to be riding can be easier to control in the woods than a cr 80. i ride a 125 and love it. it has plenty of power and is nice and light but i have trouble with the bike through rocky sections and some really tight turns but i know that i would be able to throw an 80 around and be able to ride it easier than a 125. this is just common sense that a smaller bike would be easier to handle in the woods than a large bike. especially for a 100 pound 12 yr old!!!!!!!!!!! anyway. my advise to you, Dell, would be to get the 125. if your mom has a problem with it show her all these posts, except kelvinkdx's, for obvious reasons. i was 5'2" and 93 lbs when i picked up my 125 and i felt a little unstable on the bike at first but after about a month on the bike i felt right at home. also i was contemplating the 80 or 100 and opted for a 125!!!!!!!! and im very happy i did. not even a year later i am now 5'6" and weighing in at a hefty 120lbs. this just goes to show that you can grow at any moment. hope this helps.:) :) :)
