polishing ports

I was wondering, what happens if you polish all the port of a 250 two stroke with polish paste. Smooth it all out, because the texture of the metal is not very smooth. Would the air and fuel not flow better ?

On the exhaust side, it may help you gain 0.1 or less horsepower, but if you polish the intake side you will actually lose horsepower due to the lack of turbulence causing fuel droplets to form in the inlet tract. If you look at any good tuners porting, it will be textured on the intake side.
The phrase "Port and Polish" is a good way to spot a wannabe tuner.
