Anyone know of a place that will give me a good deal on (2) CR250's. The best price I've been quoted is $5150 for each bike(cash transaction). Do you think anyone can beat that price?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Do what Bswift suggested. Abernathy's should beat any price. I know ALOT of people who have done business with Abernathy's and were very satisfied. I'm glad to see them as a sponsor for DRN!:) I'm about an hour away from them.

I did email Abernathys and he gave me a really good price. Only Service honda gave me a better price. However I think I am taking my business acrposs the boarder to Canada. I can get a bike for $4150.

I have to do it. i had two CR's stolen this winter. I still owe $3000 on my 2001. I'm eating mac and cheese but at least I have a new CR!

My dad almost bought a new KX250 from Canada last year. He could have gotten it for $4000 shipped. The cost of the bike before taxes and shipping was $3600. Don't see how they do it.

Just goes to show how much it actually costs to make one bike. Either that or some other country is paying way to much for a bike

Even with the exchange rate, I expected taxes to offset the difference. But the import tax was less than what sales tax would have been in the U.S. I thought that was one of the purposes of import taxes. To even out the playing field to avoid buying goods outside the US?

Ever heard of an Exhange Rate?

Yeah, it's a great deal when it's in your favor and you are purchasing goods manufactured in that country or services.

That said, the exchange rate is not the factor here. Perhaps Canada has lower import taxes than the US as far as Japanese products go? I don't know but that is a great price.

I thought that there would be a catch too but there isn't. You are required to pay Canadian sales tax. Howver you get that back when you take the bike back across the boarder! There are no Tarriffs or diuties for OFF road non registered vehicles under 600cc's.

You cannot beat the deal. I am driving 6 hours each way. But it's saving me over $1000.

IF he could have bought a bike in KY for $3600, tax would have been $215. The import tax was approx. $150. Shipping was $125 from Seattle to Nashville.(the dealer was hauling the bike to Seattle - this saved hundreds on shipping charges) We were paying the dealer $100 to take it to Seattle. That made the total $3975. The only reason he didn't buy it was, the dealer wouldn't accept a credit card without someone actually signing it, and we didn't have time to set up escrow and get it shipped here in time for Dirtweek.

Sorry, just found my notes from the phone conversations. The tax was $90, not $150. Making the total $3885. This is for a brand new bike, still in the crate.
