Looking at getting a set of Pro Tapers for my 02 CR250 but I'd like some feedback on what bend to get. I'm 6'0, and the stock bend seems to feel okay, but I'd like some ideas on how to choose the proper bend. My new bar clamps will move the bar 5mm forward, but will not raise them up. Any tips?

Thanks,
Andrew

Take a look at the Renthal Fat bar they are alot less $$ than Pro Taper and seem to be real durable. I like the CR high. My dealer just told me that Renthal has lowered there price for some promotion.

I'm 6'5 and I like the CR Double-Hi.. Nothing else is even close to being as tall, except for the Pastrana Freestyle bend, but they're narrower than traditional bars if I'm not mistaken.

They must make these bikes for guys that are 5'4 with most of that being in thier legs. I have stubby legs and a longer torso, so I think I'll be going with the CR Hi bend based on input from everybody. Thanks! ;)

i am 6'2" and went witht the Windam bend. Quite tall, very straight....they worked out for me. Very similar dimensions to the Carmicheal bend.....i still cant understand why the shortest guy out there has one of the tallest, straightest bars!

I am 5'8" and am looking at getting a taller bar because of my short reach, the windham was recommended- 99mm tall and 54mm sweep. I am also thinking about the Hawkins 95mm tall and 65mm sweep.
Seems like more sweep would relieve the wrist strain somewhat while on the seat.
One would think a bar manufacture would have a chart that you could match up your "reach" to for recommendations (arm pit to tip of finger) along with riding ie. Motocross, Enduro, Desert and so on.

endurodude - They prolly would, but it has more to do with personal preferance than anything I think.... Anyway, I have the Hawkins high wood bend & so far I'm real happy with them :yeehaw: (only rode twice, cause of the weather)

Ohhh, I'm 6'1

The one tradeoff for the CR Double-Hi is it has 62mm sweep.. Not as much as some, but a bit more than average nowadays.
They are 115mm tall. Most are under 100.

The Pastrana freestyle bars are only 775 wide, compared to the CR 2xHi's 805.

you can get a KX-Hi bend Pro Taper that has a 56mm sweep (fairly straight) and a 108mm rise. :thumb:

RC runs his bars laid way back. the taller bars put them closer at closer reach.

i thought that would be the case.

i like the straight bar since i stand up a lot on the mx track.

if i sat down a lot or did long distance rides i would try the Button bend, very tall but a lot of sweep also!

the Windam bend is one of the wides out there 815MM i think...lotsa leverage!

I love my pro tapers but I'm not good enough to feel a difference. Plus, they obstruct my fork pressure vents and compression clickers. Something to think about.
