pros and cons of 4 stroke vs 2 stroke

just getting back into riding looking to buy a bike within a month.It will be used to ride with the wife and son on powerlines, trails mostly.I see alot of talk about 2and 4 stroke my question is what are the strenghts and weaknesses of them, upkeep, trail riding, noise levels, weight

Two strokes are lighter, and have less maintenance requirements. They tend to be noiser because they have to rev higher to get power and the exhaust is such a critical part of how they make power.

Four strokes are more forgiving to a beginner rider. When you go for a "putt" with the wife and kid a four stroke will tolerate the ride without fear of fouling a plug.

It would help if you would fill out the "sticky" form that was posted at the top of this fourm. Knowing your size, ability, experience and even the state you live in would help form a better opinion of the best bike for you.

Based on the little information provided I would recommend a Yamaha TTR-230.
